Eddie's PoV

Pregnancy is a bitch. The cravings, the weight gain, the hunger, and the aches were all difficult on their own, but I'd like to think that I was handling them surprisingly well. Aside from the hunger, there was really only one other thing that gave me hell, and that was the nausea.

You never really think about how hard pregnancy actually is, until you're confronted with it up close and personally. As a man, I never expected myself to truly understand the hardships of pregnancy, but as I sit on my knees, hunched over the toilet for the third time that day, I'm wondering how on gods green earth women mange to do this.

Vomit is dripping from my nose, my throat sore and aching from the retching, and Venom has taken to their usual post behind me, rubbing my back and offering me words of encouragement. I grip onto the ledge of the sink as I try to collect myself, closing my eyes and wiping my mouth with a trembling hand.

"Love... are you okay?" Venom asks, worriedly. I shake my head.

"You know, I don't even know why they call it morning sickness if it's just gonna follow you your entire day," I comment, flushing the toilet and standing up. "It's just very misleading." Venom passes me a tissue to blow my nose, and turns on the faucet for after I'm finished. I take it graciously, thanking them before splashing my face with some water and rinsing my mouth out to rid myself of the taste.

A tendril snakes it's way around my waist as I turn the water off, rubbing my plump stomach tenderly. My gaze falls, staring at the bump that was now slightly rounded to accommodate the child growing inside. I noticed it the other day while getting dressed, how it looks a little less like bloating now and a little more like pregnancy instead. Hiding it was becoming more and more of a challenge and we weren't even half way through yet. I was starting to worry about what I was going to do when I'm in the third trimester, but I figured that we would cross that bridge when we get to it.

"Do you feel any better?"

"Yeah," I admit truthfully. "For the time being. Give it fifteen minutes." I hit the light switch, the bathroom going dark as I stepped out and headed for the bedroom to start getting ready for work. Venom shifts slightly from beside me as I reach inside the top dresser drawer and pull out a roll of elastic bandaging. I examine it briefly, then throw it on my pillow, grabbing my work shirt in the process.

"Perhaps we should stay home today, Eddie."

Ah, wouldn't that be wonderful? I felt like shit and probably looked even worse, but that was the least of my worries.

With a sigh, I sit down on the comfort of our bed and stare up at them, tired and dejected. "You know we can't, Vee. We need to start trying to save up for supplies and things. Staying home isn't an option until we can figure out something else."

They come with no reply, Venoms head only lowering gloomily. I feel my heart ache at the sight, and I softly push their chin back up so they're looking at me again. A slight smile appears on my face as it happens, and I swear if symbiotes could blush, they would have.

"Don't worry too much, it's only for tonight. We've got a well deserved day off waiting for us tomorrow, and we can spend it in our pajamas, watching movies and eating all the chocolate we want." They still seem a little unsure, so I lean up and give them a doting kiss that evokes the surge of dopamine from them that I was looking for. Of course, the kisses always seem to work.

When I pull away, I'm met with the goofy, heart-eyed expression that I never failed to welcome. It feels so wonderful to see that it actually gives me a renewed sense of motivation and contentment when I thought I had been drained for the night.
