Eddie's PoV

It was so nice to be a bit more at peace now that everything was finally getting addressed. All of this business with Ashley and her vicious lap dog has really had me on edge, and I was starting to grow rather tired of having to drive myself to insanity over all of it, so any moment in which I could be happy, is a moment to be cherished.

We had finally talked through everything with Ashley, and wasted no time in plotting Hannah's downfall. The girl admits to leaving her girlfriend in the dark through everything, so the first step was starting the act. Given that Hannah knew nothing about living arrangements or our knowledge of her heinous crimes, we could go off of the assumption that Ashley was still safe for the time being, so long as she didn't do anything to raise suspicion.

This act will continue until the girl is able to go in and obtain solid proof that Hannah is a cannibal, in which she will then report it to the police, and get her caught before she can even suspect a thing. Should everything go as planned, Venom and I will have nothing to do with the case, and therefore won't be investigated. Everyone will be safe, and we can go back to our lives, focusing on the future that is to come.

It sounded so easy when you laid it all out on a nice little bulletin board that had all the steps and clues neatly connected by a few thumb tacks and some pretty red string, but we all knew that it was going to be much harder than it sounded. If Hannah had gotten away with it for so long without suspicion, then she had to be smart. Really, really smart. And really, really, really good at what she does.

Sometimes I ponder how I get myself into these situations, but it truly wasn't my fault. I guess I was just a really unlucky guy, with a big heart. There was no way I could've known that I would get caught as a background character in my only friends sapphic, cannibalistic love story. I suppose that perhaps adventure always had a way of finding me, though I wasn't sure if that was more of a blessing or a curse.

Ashley and I are talking, going over details and updating each other on new findings, which wasn't very much. But we were trying our best, and you had to at least give us credit for that.

"Damn, almost a month of investigating now and we're still coming up dry," I sigh. The girl runs a hand through her hair in frustration.

"I know, I'm trying my best but there's just... nothing. Everything is always spotless." She then looks up at me, thrumming her fingers against her arms, her anxiousness so clear you could practically smell it. "I know it's a little late into the project to ask now... but you're absolutely sure she is who you guys think she is?"

Venom frowns in distaste from beside me, clearly offended by her question. "Are you questioning our judgement?" they hiss. She quickly puts her hands up in defense, shaking her head nervously in an attempt to calm the alien down.

"W-What? No, of course not! I-I was just- you know-"

"We know what we are talking about! And I know what I tasted." Vee interjects quickly, immediately shutting her down as fast as they possibly could. The girl lets out a frustrated huff, crossing her arms.

"Well pardon me for wanting to believe that there may be a chance my girlfriend isn't a cold-hearted, lady-killer! It's not like this is an easy job, you know!"

"Perhaps you are unfit for the position then," they reply in a deep growl. Ashley's mouth hangs open in disbelief, her eyes wide with an anger that I could see was slowly starting to grow.

"Alright you two, how about we all just take a second to breathe, huh?" I try my best to intervene, but neither of them break the tense eye contact, making me more or less invisible. I knew Vee was prone to pushing buttons, and I had an awful feeling that they were going to say something that threw Ashley off the edge.
