Eddie's PoV

"UNO!" Ashley and I yell simultaneously.

"I win, man, it's over!"

"No, no, no, I said Uno before you, so you need to pick up more cards! Those are the rules, Jack!"

"I said it a whole second before you did! That's game, take the 'L'," I boast. Ashley's head whips over to Hannah and the blonde just sighs, throwing down her cards.

"Sorry babe but I heard it. You were a whole half a second short," she says, allowing me to celebrate.

"Haha, I told you!" I cheer, making her roll her eyes.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Your good luck streak ends now, loser," the brunette hisses.

"Heh, look who's talking." She smacks my shoulder playfully and Hannah laughs, standing from the table.

"Actually, I hate to be the bringer of bad news but I think dinner is ready." Ashley seems disappointed to hear that we have to stop playing, but is immediately distracted by her girlfriend that was walking up to her. The girl reaches for Ashley's hand, bringing it up to her lips and giving it a small kiss that the other woman melts into. "My dear, would you like to help me bring everything out?"

"Of course," she agrees, wasting no time in standing up from her seat.

"Jack, while we're setting everything up you're more than welcome to explore around the house a little bit."

"Alrighty, no rush," I tell them, watching as they make their way out of the dining room.

A beat passes before I take up Hannah's offer to wander, feeling as though I may need a moment to stretch. Distending my legs brings me a fraction of relief, so I take a small stroll down the hall and give the rest of my joints a bit of movement for a few minutes. When I estimate myself to be far enough away, I take this as an opportunity to bother Venom. After all, I was curious to know what their opinion was after spending some more time around the both of them.

"So..." I start awkwardly, passing through the main room again, "are you having fun?"

I don't get an answer immediately, but eventually I hear the symbiote scoff. "Perhaps we are having a good time... but I still don't trust the blonde one!"

My eyes nearly roll to the back of my head, but I knew that they were going to be stubborn about this. They weren't exactly the easiest alien to convince. "Really? But you seemed so excited about the double date."

"Call it a moment of weakness."

"Come on Vee," I try to reason with them. "I know we had our doubts, but she seems nice, and Ashley looks really happy with her." They don't seem convinced, grumbling to themselves in an upset tone that makes me realize I would have to approach this from a different direction. I think for a moment, staring down the hall on the opposite side of the house that I haven't seen yet, before beginning on the first step. "Alright, then what is it about her that you don't like?"

"I do not know... There is just something wrong with her, Eddie." They sound just as confused as I am while answering that, and it makes me wonder why they're so adamant on Hannah being a bad person if they didn't even know themselves.

"What's wrong with her then? I mean yeah she seems like a bit of a clean freak, but that's about the only thing I could think of. Is all of this because of the scars? Good people go through shitty things too, ya know?"

"You and I both know that isn't why," they try to defend. I shake my head, looking into what appeared to be a study room.

"Oh? Then please, enlighten me," I press on, moving further down the hall.
