Chapter Fourteen.

*6 Months Later*

I sat in my dorm as I review my work for the next days test. I was about 3 months into college at Columbia in New York and I was really happy. Thanksgiving is in a few weeks and I’m really excited to go home and see everyone. All of us split us, even Addison and Nash. We’re all at different colleges, but we’re all super close still. I haven’t talked to Jack and I honestly don’t know what happened to him. No one talks about him anymore and if someone brings him up someone else will ‘shush’ them and everyone begins acting really stiff and awkward. I do wonder where he went and what happened to him, but I don’t want to ask anyone. Was I still in love with him? I wasn’t sure, I asked myself that question everyday to be quite honest. I think I do but, I can’t do that to myself. I was suddenly interrupted from my thoughts as I heard a knock at our dorm door.

“Ari? Would you mind getting that? I’m getting changed!” My roommate, Brooke yelled from the bathroom.

“Yeah sure!” I yelled back groaning as I got up from my bed. I walked to the door and opened it to see someone who looked remarkably familiar but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. He was a tall boy with brown hair and brown eyes. He was built and his features were stunning. He smiled at me with perfect teeth and I smiled back and began to talk.

“Hi, um what do you need?” I asked trying to be as friendly as possible. The boy chuckled and I felt butterflies in my stomach. 

“I take it you don’t remember me? I mean I didn’t really expect you to but still.” He was smiling and quietly chuckling and I was quickly distracted by his beauty.

“I’m sorry, what’s your name?” I said trying to be a little flirty and sweet and he smiled at me.

“It’s Sam, Sam Wilkinson.” I automatically remembered who he was. This was one of Jack’s best friends, I met him in the hall last year when he asked Jack to come over but he was spending the night at my house and he said Jack was whipped!

“Oh my gosh! I knew you looked familiar! Oh my goodness, come in!” I say as I opened the door a little wider as Sam smiled and walked in. We walked into my small dorm kitchen and sat down and began to talk. We just caught up for a little and it turns out Sam was transferring to Columbia. After a long night of talking and laughing I said goodnight to Sam.

“Did you know that you are very beautiful?” Sam was smiling at me as we walked to the door and I felt myself blush. He began to laugh, “You really are!” He smiled at me and I made a quick decision to do something, I leaned in and kissed him.

“Goodnight, Sammy.” I closed the door as Sammy smiled at me and brushed his hand through his hair and we parted our ways.

Within the past few weeks Sammy and I have gotten very close and I think he was going to ask me to be his girlfriend! That thought scared me a little because I didn’t know if I was truly over Jack, I needed closure. I was currently cuddled with Sammy on a quiet Saturday as it rained just slightly outside. We were just playing with each others fingers when I decided to ask Sammy something.

“Sammy?” I asked quietly as he looked down to me and smiled.

“Yes, beautiful?” I blushed at his words. 

“Well, I was just curious because no one has told me... what happened to Jack?” I asked him ever so quietly as his face turned white and he looked panicked.

“Y-You don’t know?” He whispered as I shook my head and he bit his lip and then brushed my hair behind my ear. “Jack... Jack was in an accident just about two weeks after school started,” I quickly became worried and felt the urge to cry. “Jack... Jack didn’t make it.” I suddenly felt a feeling of pure nothing. I was sad and I felt like someone had just taken my heart, ripped it out of my chest and threw it to the ground and watched in shatter into millions of pieces. I felt like I was about to cry the Niagara falls but I couldn’t show Sammy I was so upset, he would feel worse. I looked into Sammy’s eyes and then snuggled closer into him.
