Chapter 16

Nates POV

Serena's parent came to join us for lunch. I was happy that they came but my happiness dropped when I realized that Serena was not here.

I know I am still mad at her but I never expected that she would move on so fast. Had she really forgot about me? My heart clenched at the thought of her moving on and forgetting about me. Am I being so selfish?

"Son are you alright?" My mom asked me as we were in the living room.

"I am fine mom." I forced a smile.

"Son, I ..." she stated sympathetically and I knew exactly what she wanted to say.

"Mom I said I'm fine okay" I touched her cheek affectionately. She smiled at me and understood that I didn't want her to go on with whatever she wanted to say.

"I will go to my room. I need a rest". I lied.

"I will aid you upstairs son" dad offered me.

He helped me get to my room and he made sure I was laid on the bed. He sat beside me on the bed and smiled.

"She loves you me no matter what"

"Mhh" I frowned.

"Son, don't be naïve, for all we know you love her too. We see it" dad said catching me off guard.

I sighed deeply "Dad I don't want to talk about it please" he nodded in understanding.

"I am sorry son. But if you need any one to talk to, I am one call away" he smiled.

"I love you dad. Thank you "

"Love you too my son" he gave me a hug and left.

I closed my eyes and her image appears in my head. Fuck I missed her so much.

I took my phone and search for her instagram account. She didn't post any picture since the day of the event. And most pics had very rude comments about her. They called her a whore, cheap, manipulative bitch and many more bad words. My heart clenched at the words they said about her.

She must have suffered a lot with all that was going on. I went to my instagram notifications and I was shocked to what they commented about Serena in most of our pictures that I shared while we were dating. Most comments aimed at her, other comments warned me that I should leave her. Only if they knew that we aren't together anymore.

I was so mad at my self, I left her to suffer I never gave her the chance to explain what happened. I let my emotions get the best of me. I should have believed her and gave her the support she needed. But I chose to leave her. And no that she is gone I feel like I have done the greatest mistake in my entire life.

I needed to find out what had happened and prove if she was innocent. I hope it wont be too late. With that thought I decided to call my PI.

I told him to find out what was going on and he gave me the news that Chase was dismissed since his signature from his paintings ain't the same from the accused drawing.

"What why didn't you tell me about this earlier?

"Sir, I tried to reach you but your phone was always off"

"Oh my bad I'm sorry about that. So I need you to find out the culprit behind this for all I know he must have been sent by that wrecked woman, Morgana"

"Your hunch may be true. I will investigate this and come back at you as soon as I can sir"

"Okay I will be waiting for your call"
