chapter two• you're not peter parker

I am on a hunt to catch Spider-Man. But I was just with him, so how is it that he has he gotten away without me noticing?

I had him by the throat...

He must be nearby. His webs may make him fast, but they wouldn't keep him away from me. I am still determined to find Peter and continue to make him pay. I can't let myself be bested but the boy who is truly a coward.

Everything is a bit fuzzy, and my body aches. After grabbing him by the throat, my memory isn't fully in tact. But one thing is clear; I can only think about destroying Peter Parker.

Fire is consuming me, and my eyes glow red for a moment in frustration. This is taking a lot longer than I had expected it to.

There he is.

I smirk as I spot someone in a familar suit. Spider-Man is on a bridge full of cars, and people are running off it, screaming as I hover above the ground, fire resting on my hands at either side.

Wow, Peter had a new and fancy suit. Nanotechnology. Impressive.

I must have blacked out during the fight, and Peter must have gotten away and grabbed some new gadgets and his mechanical suit. Peter Parker has always been the smart type of guy, but I never expected him to become this advanced.

It made me feel a bit small, knowing his gadgets are far more advanced than mine. But I have my powers running through my veins.

"Hey, Parker," I greet, an evil tone laced in my voice.

"Um- ma'am, fire girl, why do you look so angry?" Peter stutters.

Why doesn't he seem to know me?

"I'm here to kill you," I threaten.

Why is he calling you ma'am? Peter had never once referred to me formally. Something seems off with him, but I elect to ignore it.

"You want to joke around again, Peter?" I smirk.

"Maybe we could just talk about this, because I really don't know who you are," Peter replied, nervously.

What?

Is this a trick? One of Peter's games?

"So you're playing dumb, Spidey," I say with a sigh. This isn't going to end well for him. "What a shame."

As I prepare to launch a fireball at Peter, the two of us freeze. We aren't alone in our battle. He seems to sense something with that tingle of his. And I can feel it too.

Someone is coming. The ground shakes, and part of the bridge cracks open. A robotic tentacle plunges onto the bridge, and I have no idea what will follow next.

Smoke rises up from the crack to reveal a man with robotic tentacles coming out of his back like an octopus. The tentacles are mechanic, with claws on the end, probably to grab something or even someone. That seems useful. But I really have no clue who this guy is, and I have never seen him before.
