chapter twelve•the fight on the statue of liberty

Peter has the stupidest idea yet.

He decided to facetime J. Jonah Jameson as the reporter broadcasted live. I told him he was insane for letting himself get criticized by his enemy reporter, but he didn't listen to me. I am forced to listen to Peter 3 rant to Peter 2, who seems a little concerned by how much energy Peter has.

I can't leave here if I wanted to. Peter would be too concerned for my safety. The Spider-Men (mostly Peter 3) also fear that I will turn on them and help the villains plan their scheme.

So, I just continue to listen to Peter 2 and Peter 3's conversation. It's not like I have anything better to do until I can talk to Peter 1.

"You know Max was, like, the sweetest guy ever... before he fell into a pool of electric eels," Peter 3 sighs.

"That'll do it," Peter 2 laughs.

"Ah, there it goes," Peter 2 sighs, stretching while holding his back.

"You okay?"

"Oh, it's my back. It's kinda stiff from all the swinging I guess."

"Oh yeah, no, I got a middle back thing too."

"Really?"

"Yeah. You want me to crack it?" Peter 3 offers.

"Yeah! Yeah, that'd be great."

My eyes widen in concern. What exactly am I watching?

"All right. You ready?" Peter 3 asks, holding Peter 2 in place.

"Yeah."

Peter 2 crosses his arms while Peter 3 cracks his back. I stand there, facepalming. "You alright there, Synne?" Peter 2 laughs.

"Just... concerned."

"Oh, that's good," Peter 2 smiles, turning to Peter 3.

Peter 3 then lets go of Peter 2.

"Right?" Peter 3 laughs proudly.

They're idiots.

"That's better."

"Yeah!"

"Wow."

I try to not pay attention to the rest of their conversation. But I had thought about what the Spider-Men said. Maybe I am still a villain. Am I willing to betray Peter?

If I were still with the rest of the villains, I wouldn't have to hurt Peter... But I thought back to how Electro treated me.

And if I didn't listen to Goblin, I would fear my death. Connors annoys me, and Sandman seems nice enough. However, Otto isn't evil anymore... at least I think so. He is the nicest of them all.

I start to pay attention again when Peter 1 starts talking on top of the crown on the Statue of Liberty. He is responding to some comment that Peter 3 made to Peter 1. I didn't even want to know.

As the three Peters ramble on, I look off into the distance at New York City. I miss my family and friends. They would have loved to see a Spider-Man as great as Peter 1. They would have loved to see that he saved me.

My little sister, Jenna, was the biggest Spider-Man fan. She had her own toy mask from the store and pretended to be webslinging around the house.

"Hey, how are we going to know who is who out there?" Peter 2 asks.

"It's easy, just assign yourself numbers. Peter from this universe, you're Peter 1. Peter that I just met today, you're Peter 2, and other Peter, you're Peter 3," You decided.
