Vee pulls off when I get inside the car. I look out the window with my mother on my mind. We never really got along ever since I was a kid. She wants things to go her way and everyone else's opinion is just wrong. I can't be who she wants me to be. I can barely be myself because I don't even know who I am. She won't give me the space to even figure it out. Vee looks over at me and playfully nudges me .

"Hey, it will be alright. I'm always here for you." I smile knowing I can believe her. Vee can always make me forget all the bad vibes I was feeling. It made me happy she cared so much. "Anddd, we are going to your favorite place. Maybe that will cheer you up."

"I am in need of a giant vanilla milkshake with double Oreos." My sweet tooth agrees with me. It's something about sugar that just helps me think.

"I figured you did. Aren't I just the best?" Vee says. I shake my head smiling. "I'm sorry I had left you with Pierce earlier. My stupid car needed a jump"

"I could have been kidnapped but I guess this can make us even now."

"Stop being dramatic. I think he likes you. I do get a strange vibe from him but he's harmless." She brushes it off like I wasn't being very serious. She knows I don't do well with strange and mysterious things. That is not my thing, is it? Whatever the case, something weird is going on and my sore arm can feel it too.

"Something is off about him. It's like he knew what I was going to say before I said it." I say, trying to see if I do really sound crazy. Vee laughs at me telling me I am.

"If that's the case he must be your soulmate. You can probably finish each other's sentences." She says in awe. That makes my stomach twist in disgust.

"He is not my type. He's annoying and talks too much." I mean he is cute, but I am not interested in that. He talks in riddles, pops up everywhere and I'm positive he can probably read my mind.

"I forgot your types are jerks like Xavier." Vee says. I feel a little hostile hearing that name. I am done thinking he will ever change his attitude. He can be an ass anytime he wants; I just want him to keep his mouth shut when he is around me.

"I am done with that and never again but that doesn't mean Pierce is on my radar now." I reassure her. I am not walking down that path of bad boys who are no good for you.

"Can't say I'm not happy to hear that. I do think you should give Pierce a chance though." She thinks she is a certified match matcher or something?  Like a living breathing tinder app.

"The chance of that happening is very minimal. I would rather die a virgin."

"Be careful what you wish for." She says smiling. I really wish we were talking about something else. The mention of Pierce gives me this prickly feeling like I'm going to melt right into the color of his unforgettable eyes. I need to stay focused.

"I heard he got in trouble for yelling positive things about you." She holds back a smile but I can see it wanting to form. I swear no one in that school can keep a secret to save their life.

I roll my eyes. "Well it was embarrassing and I would rather not talk about it." I look out the window so she can't see how bad I am sweating.

She pulls into Shake N' Cake parking lot. I can smell the sweetness in the air and it makes me smile. This place is pure happiness for me. It always smell like fresh fruit even before you go inside. Their food is pretty great too. Everything on the menu is handmade like everyone's grandma is working in the kitchen or something.

"I think I'm going to try a different flavor today." Vee says.

"Mmm being adventurous today. What's the occasion?"
