When the smoke clears we are standing beside Pierce's motorcycle. Now I see how he's able to be at places so fast. He really is a demon and so is his brother. What do they want with me? Pierce straddles his death machine and I follow his lead. I look behind me to see if they caught up and of course Ash and the other two demons chasing me for unknown reasons appear in their own black shadow. I turn back and Pierce finally speeds off away from them. I didn't know I'm holding my breath until my chest start to hurt. I don't know where we are going but I just want to go back home and pretend none of this is real.

"Can you take me home? "I try to speak against the wind. It whips my face as he goes faster. He didn't answer so I don't think he heard me. He's too preoccupied in keeping me safe, but am I? He is also one of them and I'm putting my life in his hands. What if Pierce is secretly working with them and he just wants something in exchange for me? Nothing is normal anymore or makes any sense. I don't have anything I can give those demons besides my power. Pierce continues driving until we get far enough or at least I hope we did. He stops at what looks like an abandoned park.

"What are your plans, oh great protector?" I say sarcastically. I know I shouldn't take this as a joke, but I can't trust anyone. The world is not the world. Everyone around me is probably a demon. I wouldn't be shocked about Stella being a demon though. It would explain everything. She is the devil incarnate if you ask me.

"My plan is to tell you what you want to know but first we need a public place." He revs his engine. The only place I can think of is the only place I will at least feel a little bit safe. I can't go home yet without knowing what I'm up against.

"Shake N' Cake is an option." I suggest.

"Shake N' Cake it is then." He speeds off again. I peek behind me to make sure no one is there but we're alone. I can tell we're close to our destination because of the faint smell of vanilla. I feel happy and safe for a moment. It isn't going to last though. He pulls into the driveway and we head inside. It's not crowded but I can work with that. It's still public. I pick a booth in the back and slide into it. Pierce slides in across from me. I fold my hands together like we are here strictly for business.

"Do you want to order anything?" he asks me. It does smell good in here as usual and it makes you want a sugar rush, but my stomach is in knots right now. I shake my head.

"No, I just want answers so I can go home." I say.

"Once I tell you just know you won't be safe anymore." He sighs. I wait for him to finish explaining. "Those guys or demons in this case work for Vane. He is the oldest demon and most powerful demon overlord. My brother even follows him, and I did too for a while. He's the one who wants you."

Images of Ash flashes through my mind. He's the complete opposite of Pierce with his long twists in his hair covering his face. His grin makes me feel chills all through my body. His eyes are a lifeless emotionless color filled with void and sadness. Pierce's eyes are golden brown and filled with life and light. If it wasn't for his similar features to Pierce, I would never believe they are related in any way. It's so much to process right now. I mean I should be screaming and denying everything about this demon ordeal but I'm trying to stay calm because I saw it with my own eyes. I can't deny what my eyes have seen.

"I can see your brother being a ... a demon." I struggle to say the word. "But you don't come off that way."

"It's because we are only half demons. Our mother was human but that's another story for another day." He smiles at me giving me those annoying ass butterflies. My heart flutters a little finding out he's only half demon but that doesn't make me feel completely protected. He still works with them or used to, so I have to keep my guard up at all times with him. No matter how much I stare at his lips wishing they were mapping out my body right now.
