I wake up staring at the stars on my ceiling that my grandma helped me put up. She used to say I was the moon in the heavens because the light in me was bright and ominous. The funny thing is I think I am more like the dark side of the moon.

I'm not well liked or high maintenance like popular people are. Anything about fashion confuses me. For example, should I be wearing baggy jeans with giant shirts? Probably not but it's comfortable. I am definitely not beautiful. Maybe more adorable than anything. I mean I do have a round face with big chocolate brown eyes. I think my nose is a little too much on the plump side and makes my entire face look bigger.

Most importantly I am just a nobody. Someone you walk past without a second glance. You know the one that sits in that back being quiet and to herself, that's me. It has always been like this though. It was worse in junior high but when you're a senior in high school you learn to deal with it .No matter what I did or how I did it, no one accepted me. I don't care as much but sometimes it does get to me. I mean all I want is to be treated like a person who has feelings.

I hear a loud knock on my bedroom door bringing me back to my boring life.

"Mom said come down now." My annoying ten-year- old sister, Skylar says. Her voice sounds like a high pitch bell. It just rings in your ear all day.

I groan not wanting to endure another day of school. Friday should be an automatic day off. It's part of the weekend, not the week. Instead I roll to my side. I can't wait to graduate already.

"Want me to get Cupcake?" She teases. Our dog barks at the sound of his name. Skylar opens the door wider. Cupcake comes running inside with his tail wagging. He begins to lick away the sleep from my face. I try to push him off me but it's a struggle trying to get a 80 pound golden retriever to cooperate with me.

"No Cupcake. Down boy" He jumps back to the floor making a whining sound and leaves my room. I sit up to see Skylar standing there glaring. She has on a white and pink skirt with a fluffy pink blouse. She looks like the barbie dolls I hated playing with.

"Can you please get out before I call Barbie and tell her you stole her clothes?"

"At least I can dress better than you." I stand up ignoring her remark and push her out the door. "Don't touch me, peasant." She sticks her pointy nose in the air and finally walks away.

I roll my eyes and close my door. I hear her footsteps go down the stairs yelling mom's name. I can't believe I am related to her. I hate mornings almost as much as I hate school. I pull out an oversized t-shirt I got from my older brother Leon. He's in college right now. I can barely remember the last time I saw him. I miss him a lot.

I put on the shirt and it covers whatever figure I have. It looks like I have no breasts, but I see nothing positive about having them. It just causes back problems and drooling men. Another plus side of baggy clothes is that no one can judge the shape of my body. I could be a twisted curly fry for all they know but it's my business.

I put on some sweats and my worn-out black sneakers. I pretty much dress this way every day. When you live in Divine Falls, Illinois, a small nothing town, you wear whatever blends you in. It keeps you from being a target of other's self hate.

The only time I have to dress up is if I'm going to a family wedding or reunions. My mom bought me a shitload of dresses last summer. I don't like my legs, so they are in the closet collecting dust bunnies. One time she made me wear a dress because it was more "ladylike". I purposely ate the messiest chili dog and ruined the dress.

The last touch up for my bum look is hair in a ponytail. Skylar is the lucky one because her hair is more of a soft wavy curl and easier to tame. Leon has the same type of hair too so he's also a lucky one as well. My hair is a curly, thick, dark brown mess. The last time I straightened my hair it went past my shoulders. I wonder how long it is now, but I have too much hair to find out. I grab a brush and put my arm muscles to work on my thick curls. I grab every one and put it in a high ponytail.
