Pierce is leaning against the front porch with his arms crossed like he means business. At this point I don't think he will ever leave me alone. Half of me wants to slam the door in his face but a part of me wants to be all on him. I'm stuck. I can't stand this back and forth pull between us. His golden eyes are trying to read my expression while mine are trying to tell him to leave.
"Didn't I tell you to stay away from me or do I need a restraining order?" I threaten him.
He grins and it looks like his eyes gets darker in that split second. "I know but I have to talk to you. It's important. Mind if I come in?" His voice is like smooth velvet. I'm sure he got many girls with that soothing voice, but he won't get this one.
"Yes, I mind. What do you want?" I ask. He stands completely up and walks toward me. I move backwards instantly. He stops and stares at me for a moment.
"I don't want you to be scared of me Phina. I'm not the enemy here."
I can't help but be afraid. He is mysterious and strange and what's stranger is I'm so attracted to him. That's what scares me the most and I am trying to fight it right now. He takes another step closer to me but this time I didn't move or else he would be inside.
"Why shouldn't I be?" My voice sounds shaky. I try to clear it hoping that helps. He reaches out and grabs my hand and I flinch letting out a small gasp. He is going to murder me at my own house. That's why he is here.
He chuckles. "I'm not going to kill you because there's no motive." I pull my hand back and step back inside the house. He did that mind thing again. I must be in another universe if he can really hear my thoughts but it's impossible.
"People do anything just to do it. I wouldn't need a motive to punch you as long as I want to and believe me I do." I say.
He thinks about it. "Mmm your right. I don't need a reason only need a want, like how I want to hear you say my name over and over..." He trails off with a grin.
He walks closer to me like in my face close and I try to close the door but his foot stops it. He comes in and closes the front door. If he kills me, I hope a neighbor can be a witness and see that he just let himself in. My mom and sister are still upstairs and could come down any minute.
"I didn't invite you in here. You need to leave." I feel this strength grow inside me like when Stella tried to embarrass me at Shake N' Cake. I won't die without a fight.
"Phina, I just want to talk to you. Please just hear me out. Can we sit?" He asks.
I shake my head. "I rather stand."
He grins and I realize that he is enjoying me being uncomfortable. I want to push him out, but I'm scared I'm underestimating him. He looks like he might work out at the gym, so I should plan this carefully.
"So, talk. Why are you here?" I make sure I keep my distance from him.
"I needed to know if you were okay. I felt bad for leaving you in such a bad, terrified state."
Hmm, he does sound worried but he is probably just acting like he wants to know if I'm okay to get close to me. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not.
"You see me. I'm fine. Thanks for the checkup doctor, now you can go." I tell him.
Another noise comes from the living room. It sounds like someone is making a mess in there. We both turn our heads to where the sound came from.
"What is that?" I say curiously. I start to walk to the frame of the living room. It sounds like it came from the back where the kitchen is.
"Wait stop." He whispers and he grabs my arm to stop me.
