Once the darkness fades it's me, Pierce and Ivy standing in the middle of my bedroom. I thought they would take me back to the cabin and chain me up to the bed. I think evil me would like that challenge and probably pretend we were in an exorcist movie.
Seeing Vee get hurt brought myself back to me. If I can't control her then it could be worse. I could really hurt someone I love and care about and I can't let that happen. I would leave and go far away or even take my own life before I do.
"Ow my arm. That fire was hotter than I thought but I didn't feel anything." Vee holds her arm. The fireball burned through her shirt leaving a small red mark. It doesn't look so bad thank the heavens. Pierce goes into the bathroom and comes out with soothing cream and band aids. He tends to Vee's wound and I watch him take care of her.
"Next time maybe you should stay back and not run to danger." Pierce tells Vee.
She scrunches up her face. "I'm an angel keeper okay and danger is in the job description isn't it." Pierce rolls his eyes and finishes up her arm.
I sit down on my bed still wondering how we got here with Vee getting hurt. "Vee I'm sorry I put you in the crossfire like that. I'm trying to keep her suppressed, but she keeps fighting me."
Vee sits next to me with open arms. "It's not your fault Phina. I'm here to protect you, remember. I'm your angel keeper." She says with a big smile proud of herself. I laugh knowing how much she loves that title. I'm just happy she's okay. I squeeze her in a tight bear hug.
"Whatever Vane has done to you is affecting you more and more. I don't know how to reverse a spiritual turnover especially since you were supposedly born with demon blood. Another side of you has been buried there." Pierce says.
"Vane said something about how I was reborn. Know anything about that?" I ask him.
Pierce shakes his head. "No, I don't but maybe you can find some answers in the book of celeste. It's supposed to have all the history of the celestials in it. I hid it before we rescued you."
Pierce takes a step to us, but I hear a door being opened downstairs. We all pause and look at each other in fear it could be someone that wasn't invited in. I quietly stand and slowly crack my door open to peek. I hear the front door being closed and I take a step further hiding in the hallway corner of the stairs.
"Carefully now...slowly you are going too fast. Okay doing great." It's Jacey's voice but who is she talking to?
"Mom, I'm fine. It's not my legs that were broken during the crash, just my head." I gasp silently at the familiar voice of my sweet brother. Leon's home! He's not in a coma anymore. My heart swells at the thought that he's okay and gets to come home. I haven't realized how long I've been away.
"That isn't funny Leon. I want to make sure you're good. I can't keep losing my children like this." Jacey says. Then it gets silent and I look in a little more to see if they are still there and I'm not dreaming this. And there he is my big brother. He has a cast on his arm and small purple bruises on his face, but it's him. The thing is he has this sadness on his face. Jacey too...
"Still no sign of Seraphina." He says with hurt in his voice. I wish I could hug him.
"No, not yet sweetie. We are doing everything we can." She rubs his back. "Now let's get you to your room so you can rest. No need to worry about that now." Jacey holds on to him and they start up the stairs. I sneak back to my room and Vee looks scared for her life.
"It's just my mom but Leon's okay. He's back." I tell them both. Pierce takes my hand and that instant warmth I feel reminds me of the warmth my brother gives off. Not in a gross way but more of a comforting feeling. Like I feel less alone.
