he hated the idea of coming back to this hell place. but here he was, with his duffel bag in hand, outside the ice rink. he was so gonna regret this. would coach woo even let him back in after his dramatic exit from the team? welp, time to find out.
pushing open the doors of the rink, the chill air brushed against his face as the euphoria rushed through him. he could feel himself become 10 times happier almost instantly. if this was home then damn he could feel it. peering in, he noticed the team was stretching and discussing but no sign of coach.
"good day to you too mr choi." the voice made him jump as he inched his head to look at the figure. bowing nearly 90 degrees in panic. he'd rehearsed this a couple hundred times so this shouldn't be that hard right? "c-coach woo.. please let me join into practice as a member again." ouch the embarrassment from stuttering made him want to vomit.
"mr choi, you're in the way of the door, get to stretching at the benches not the door." he snorted as he tapped the boy's head and walked along to the rest of the team. with his mouth hanging, he closed it and ran his hand at the back of his head. that went smoother than he thought it would. it was almost unsettling to say the least. "beom, you're back?" looking to the voice, the younger skater had a cocky smile on his lips.
"seriously kang?" he rolled his eyes, knowing what he'd say to him if he admitted anything. "oooh, drop out isn't a dropout anymore? yeonjun's gonna scream." he cackled as he walked in with his skates close to his side.
why did he come back again? he's gonna lose his mind if he sticks around any longer. but the urge to perform again, oh he wanted that feeling again. walking over, it seemed like all eyes were on him before they started to approach him again. "woah, welcome back all star, finally gonna stop pussying out of competitions?" the older joked as he smiled.
"i wouldn't count on it."
...
"miss xing, you're fashionably late as per usual." she laughed as she struggled to tie up her hair properly. "yes yes coach, 50 laps around the rink forward and backwards." she waved her hand dismissively as she stretched out her back. watching everyone share the rink respectively as she laced up her skates.
kicking the floor, she recounted her choreo before noticing something in the corner of her eye. with widened eyes, she couldn't even keep her mouth shut. watching the choi boy do such elegant spins. it was breathtaking and she could feel chills run down her body.
she felt like she was grounded and made to watch him perform. like he was the only one in the rink that was even skating. "get a move on it xing!" her teammates called from the barrier with a smirk. clearly noticing that she was staring at the boy. "don't tell me you're crushing on beomgyu?" they cackled as they waved her over to the ice.
rolling her eyes, she slipped off her guards and slid onto the ice with a dramatic turn and smile. skating over to an open spot of the populated rink. skating carefully backwards, she watched behind her to make sure no one was too close to her. going in a full circle before collecting onto an estimated center.
balancing her foot on the other one as she spun, hugging herself to keep a tight spin as her hands stretched far above her hand into a forward glide. holding her hands out to prepare for her jump. spinning into several jumps, she huffed in a sharp breath jumping into an axel barely landing with a shaky step.
putting her hand up to her chest, her breaths were audible in her head as the beating of her heart drove her into overdrive. that was close.
"nice going cathrine." the voice snorted as she turned to face the figure. a small smile appeared on her lips as she shook her head. "wow thanks." she rolled her eyes as she went back to skating, carefully preparing for the entrance of her jump. seeing him back up in the corner of her eye as she sped up. jumping from the back of her skate into a triple lutz. feeling herself in the air in the slow brief moment made her feel relaxed as she grounded and skated gracefully back to the boy.
his small applause making her smirk. "impressed now?" her cocky tone made the corners of his lips quirk up as he pulled her along with him. "stop fooling around beom." the younger shook his head as he respectfully greeted the girl. "that's not fair why does she get a greeting." he whined, unhappy with the interaction. shrugging, he pushed the older aside as he conversed with the female.
completely disregarding his presences even being there. after a few short minutes he lost his temper and skated off in annoyance. alerting the female in confusion. "what's got his panties in a twist?" she scoffed as she could hear the other crack up with her use of words. "probably just a little jealous, he's cool off, maybe." snorting at his own words, he bowed to the girl and skated off within the rink. welp, back to practice.

it was pretty late after practice so what else then to travel through the sketchiest parts of the city back to his place? what could possibly go wrong! in all seriousness, it was too late, and he couldn't be bothered to call his driver. plus he never liked calling anyone within his family's hiring.
did it annoy him? yeah, why it did? he wasn't sure, maybe luxury wasn't for him, even if it was what his life was built on. luxury and reputation was all that he ever heard of from all the parents of the friends of his. always going to their silly little luxurious parties to converse about business in a formal and regal way.
it made him vomit so he opted out of going unless people he knew went. thus the whole choi trio dynamic grew so strong from constant beggings from his mom telling him to come along. something about conversing with other big name kids so you can build strong business relations in the future?
he was a fucking art major what part of that did his parents not understand? i guess it was because he was pursuing figure skating but then dropped it without his mothers' knowing. of course his father heard of it, being he was the one who walked in when he was talking about leaving the team with taehyun.
dropping by the dorm building, they paused as they stood there awkwardly. "i'm gonna head up, i'll see you tomorrow at yeonjun hyung's place." he bowed with a shy smile as he swiped his entrance card and walked up the steps to the dormitory.
the place looked like complete shit to live in, but funding said otherwise to say the least. stretching out his back, he stuffed his hands straight into his pockets, the chill breeze making him cold. it was -2 degrees outside and it wasn't the most ideal to say the least. it would've been nice if it was weather for snow but alas, it wasn't.
it sucked, he loved the snow, it was gorgeous and the root of his favourite sport. finding himself out the sketchy parts of the streets, he found himself practically hiking up the hill before finding his way to his house. basically scaling the fence because he forgot his keys, he dropped down with a very unsteady thud and made up his way to the doors.
