visiting hours, everyone else had classes so she didn't expect anyone to show up. even yeonjun had left, granted she practically forced him to leave since he did have this magical thing called hockey practice that she would have to skip on for today.
sore, her body ached like she was pricked with a thousand needles and had been sitting down for a millennia. in other words, everything hurt like a bitch. hearing a knock on her room door, she hummed a come in as the figure appeared.
her eyes widen as they darted around the room nervously. "yeonseo.." the voice whispered, the bouquet of flowers being placed on the bedside table. cathrine, she thought she wouldn't have cared too much after their fall out. squeezing onto the blanket covering her, she nodded and bit her tongue out of fear.
"are you.. okay?" feeling her expression soften, she opened her hands to her. watching her slowly approach with her hands clasped. hugging the other when they were close enough to her. "thank you cathy." she smiled. acknowledging that this might be the last time she could have this moment.
"i know you love hockey and you're missing it right now so i just wanted to say sorry about that." she muttered, feeling quite awkward about this interaction. i mean who wouldn't? you blew off someone and now you're at their hospital bed. "thank you cathy." the simple phrase made her heart clench. her stomach felt sick and she wanted to run away.
was this girl really a traitor? maybe it was because she needed someone to blame. no. you've made up your choice, you can't just back away because you made a mistake. she couldn't own up to the idea of it being her fault. she just couldn't.
"you should go, i heard from our coach that hockey is ending earlier than usual. so the figure skaters are probably going to nab the rink before anyone else can." giving the other a weak smile, she pushed her away from the bed. clearly making up her mind. but it felt so much like she wanted her to stay.
hesitantly nodding, she half bowed towards her. touching the slit in the door, she didn't want to leave, she just didn't want to. but she was already dismissed. sliding the door open, she walked out with a fuzzy feeling in her stomach. it was empathy. it'd always been empathy.

yeonjun was disheveled, for the last few days he'd been skipping practice and overall abandoning things around him. his missing link wasn't around and it stressed him out minute by minute. always checking his phone and calling the other twin like she was going to die. "yeonjun sunbae, you have to go back to practice. the team needs you." he nudged, unsure of how he was suppose to approach the situation.
his eyes were red and so were the corners of his eyes from wiping his tears away. he looked like a mess and he swore he saw the boy wear the same thing for 3 days now. "yeonseo is being discharged soon, as soon as she can walk and isn't aching. she's awake and healthy." his way of comforting people was extremely rough and clearly came off as insensitive.
watching the other push his mouth into a thin line as he looked at the ground. the last time he'd seen the older like this was in high school. granted that was quite embarrassing story on his part and he could laugh about it all day if he wanted to.
"practice is already over. i told coach i wasn't feeling well and he's letting me take sick days until i feel better." he muttered, hanging his head in exhaustion from rocky sleep patterns. "how about we just go to the rink?" he suggested. the words seeing foreign. he'd remember saying those exact words to the older whenever he was gloomy. it made him boost up in excitement and momentary joy. of course it was a little different now.
his eyes widened, not only in confusion, but shock. "you'd go back there just for me?" he softly whispered with a giddy smile. feeling himself smile a bit as well, he sheepishly smiled. "sure, if it cheers you up.."

the chilled rink had a nostalgic effect on him. from the blatant trauma from when he hated figure skating, to when he got his first medal. the smell of ice and hell mixing together to make the perfect chill. walking over to the barrier and slipping off his guards. he opened the gate and ascended forward as he skated around the edges of the rink before finishing his run with a small spin to face the benches again.
watching the older fake gag at his performance and putting a thumbs down in his fake disapproval. he knew damn well that idiot loved his skating, he remembered him running to his house when it was raining and yelled at him for quitting. it was pretty much a pussy move on his end but still.
the difference between their skates was amusing, his slick and tight fitting shoes and the thin razor sharp blade that scratched the ice like it was nothing. verses the hockey skates, thicker and heavier would be a great use of words to describe it. the heavy shoes and the thick and large skates attached to it for a different kind of movement and grounding compared to a lighter performing one.
"imagine ever doing figure skating." he snorted as he rounded around the other with a gleeful smirk. raising an eyebrow, he stared in confusion, "didn't you nearly break your arm last week because of your last match?" that really pierced the others as he hung his head. he knew the ins and outs of the older, knowing what would strike a cord as a comeback.
hearing the doors open to the rink, they turned and saw the figure of what seemed to be a very hesitant person. squinting, he widened his eyes as he realized who it was. he could feel his body want to skate forward to them almost instantly like a chain reaction. "ooh, is my kyukyu crushing?" snapping his head around, he went to go attack the other before a voice cut through the air.
"oh, am i interrupting something?"
putting down his half swung arm, he glared at the older as he skated towards the figure. "hey, you're not don't worry." his expression softened almost immediately while speaking to her. watching her glance over to the other and becoming slightly shocked as she bowed. "oh hello yeonjun sunbae! i'm sorry if i'm interrupting anything." she scratched the back of her neck as the other swatted a dismissive hand.
seeing him not bothered and more amused and a little mischievous, he skated towards the two without missing a beat. "you don't have to be formal with me don't worry." he grinned with a slightly evil expression. "well, i'll leave if you guys are-" "oh no you can stay." snapping his head towards the older, he furrowed his eyebrows in confusion.
"the more the merrier," he hummed as he winked, hitting the back of the boys' back and skating away to the other parts of the rink. "aish, what's his deal." he spat as he turned back to the girl. "do you still want to stick around cathrine?" he muttered, feeling himself feel rather not chilly anymore. seeing her softly smile as she pulled out her skates. "i didn't run all the way here to not skate. now move aside rags."
