I didn't see Cate again until the next week, I'd locked myself in my house and did nothing except from drink coffee and read over my notes to see if I'd missed anything up to now.

Cate had been busy with actress things, I never really asked since I was so focused on this story. Maybe she'd mentioned an upcoming film she was working on, if she did I didn't remember.

Cate had also made sure that I was updated as to when we could next meet, however, I was starting to dread our next meeting.

I couldn't think of anything worse, it wasn't often I found myself caring about someone so intensely. Even though my feelings for Cate were fleeting, I knew that if I was within her presence again that uncomfortable anxious feeling would claw its way back into my heart.

Thankfully, Cate had been busy. Between the divorce, her kids and her work she had quite a lot on her plate. Even though I was eager to hear more about that mystery girl she'd mentioned, I found apart of me not wanting her to feel too overwhelmed.

God, was it sickening. I didn't understand when I'd started caring about Cate, all I knew was that I did.

It was when I got a phone call from Jasper announcing that him and Amy were coming over that I knew I had to put work on hold for a while.

"Lia!" Jasper shouted from my kitchen, he'd been mooching around looking for who knows what.

"Jasper shut up!" Amy yelled back at him and grinned over at me from her position on the couch with her legs propped up on the coffee table, I was sat on the floor near the big window, it was covered in blankets and pillows. Sometimes I sat there to read or relax, or just think.

As expected, Jasper dame thundering into the living room and stood there with his hand on his hip and his brows furrowed. "What the fuck did you say, bitch?" He asked, his voice raising in pitch as he waited for Amy's answer.

There was no living with these two, whenever I was around they were always bickering like little kids. I was always the one who had to diffuse the situation before someone got hurt.

Amy was extremely argumentative, she lived and breathed conflict. Always jumping for a chance to fight or argue with someone, even if it was just playful.

However, before this whole interaction could descend into complete and utter chaos my phone rang loudly from the coffee table.

We all froze for a second and all looked at my phone, before I could even get up Amy and Jasper both pounced on my phone. Amy grabbing it since she was closest there, her mischievous expression intensified when she saw the ID.

"Who is it!?" I asked urgently, getting up, hoping that it wasn't Cate. Praying that it wasn't my mother. Anyone but them.

"Ooo, 'Miss. Blanchett'. God, you're such a prude, Lia. If I had Cate Blanchett's phone number I'd call her 'sexiest woman in the world' or something like that," Amy scoffed and sent me a wink, confirming my fear of Cate being on the other end of the phone.

And she was on the other end of the phone because before I could even tell Amy not to answer I heard Cate say hello through the phone.

"No, no, no, no, no," I hissed frantically bolting over to Amy and Jasper who were giggling like little kids.

"Oh, hello, Miss. Blanchett," Amy grinned wickedly, bringing the phone up to her ear and then nudging Jasper and pointing at me.

My idiot friends, as soon as I'd gotten close to the both of them Jasper launched himself at me and we struggled right there on my living room floor.

I frantically tried to kick out of his grip as Amy walked around the room, watching us with amused eyes as she held the phone to her ear.

I rolled my eyes and groaned as Jasper put his whole weight on me, "dick," I rasped out, he grinned knowing he had won our little scuffle.

I knew I should have carried on going to the gym with him and Amy. Another hobby I'd dropped after a while of entertaining it.

Amy giggled loudly, drawing my attention back over to her. "Oh, she's a little busy right now," I scowled angrily, one day I'd murder them both.

"Amy! God, Amy, give me the damn phone!" I yelled over at her, stopping abruptly as she gasped audibly at something Cate said on the other end of the phone.

"Oh, we'd all be delighted to join you tomorrow for dinner," she said, extra loudly so I heard her completely. "I'll hand the phone over to, Thalia, I'm sure she'd love your idea,"

Wheezing as Jasper finally got off of me I snatched the phone from Amy when she offered it to me.

I ran off to the privacy off my room and scoffed when I heard Jasper and Amy gather outside my room and giggle quietly.

"Thalia are you okay?" Cate's voice came through the phone, full of concern, her familiar tone of care laced in her voice.

I still hadn't got used to that, it managed to make my heart beat wildly. God, I had issues and childish friends.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. So what's this about dinner, tomorrow?" I asked, wanting to hear what silly ideas she'd put into Amy's head. I didn't know if I could survive a dinner with Cate, Amy and Jasper. Between taking care of two toddlers and trying to deal with my strange and unfamiliar feelings for Cate, I die of dread before I even left my house.

"Well, I was thinking..." she paused for a second, as if what she was about to say was going to make me react badly "I'd like to get to know you better,"

And react badly I did.

No, no, no, no, absolutely not.

In no way was I supposed to get close to Cate and let her know about my private life. Never mind let her meet my only friends, that would be more than unprofessional, it'd be ludicrous.

"Cate, I- lunch last week was great but I-" I didn't even have chance to finish, because it seemed Cate was adamant on this dinner, she wanted to know about me. A part of me wanted her to know more about me too.

But then she'd be exposed my embarrassing life, constantly living in the shadows of my mother, the fact I had only two friends, the fact that I was the most boring person in existence. Although, I wouldn't like to admit it, I knew those were the reasons I didn't want Cate to know, anything about me.

"Thalia, I know this is a job to you, but I want to know more about you. I want to meet your friends, I'm starting to fe-"

Did I mention my friends were idiots?

My door burst open, Jasper and Amy collapsing onto my floor, limbs splayed everywhere.

Did I also mention they were ridiculously immature?

Amy let out a completely inappropriate moan and it was so loud, there was no chance that Cate didn't hear it.

"Oh, Thalia, don't stop, Lia," Jasper moaned out, if that stupid dinner didn't kill me than having to explain this situation to Cate sure would.

My face flamed with complete and utter mortification. My only goal was so end this call, I was so embarrassed I didn't even think while I spoke.

"Yes, okay, we'll have dinner with you tomorrow, text me the details!" My words were hurried and full of panic, I'd be surprised if Cate even understood a word I said.

However, I didn't give her time to ask, I just ended the call, sending an icy glare over to the two baboons I called friends.
