"We have the cutest brother!" It's Asher's voice that can't take his eyes off his newborn brother.

He and his sister Raelynn are with their parents in the hospital room. They see their brother for the first time. Bryce is in his mother's arms and slowly opens his eyes.

"It looks like Bryce is happy to see you," says their father who is by Evie's bed and looks affectionately at the newborn and then at his other two children.

"Hello Bryce!" Little Raelynn waves at the newborn, making her parents giggle.

"Hey! I want to greet him too!" Asher says fiercely and he waves at the newborn too.

"He can't see you well anyway," their mother chuckles.

"Can't babies see, Mommy?" Raelynn asks curiously.

"Not really. But in the months to come, his vision will develop rapidly. Don't worry, my dears."

"I hope Bryce doesn't cry as much as Raelynn did," Asher says.

"Hey! I didn't cry!" His sister folds her arms and looks angrily at her older brother.

Evie and Nikki look at each other and giggle.

"You don't have to argue," their mother says softly. "Asher cried too when he was a baby."

"Ha-ha!" Raelynn laughs and points to her brother.

After 6 months...

Bryce is 6 months old and he is such an adorable baby and he makes her parents and siblings' lives so happy. The little one looks a lot like his mother. Florence rarely visits them, Evie tries to keep some kind of relationship with her, although she will never be able to forgive her completely because she didn't tell her what Olivia did years ago. Her biological mother tells her that when she looks at Bryce, he reminds her of Evie when they were the same age.

One thing that bothers Nikki and Evie so much is that their daughter still doesn't seem to have developed such a great bonding with Bryce.

When he was brought from the hospital, Raelynn kept telling her mother to take him back to the hospital and bring her a sister. Evie thought it was funny at first, but her daughter kept saying the same thing over and over, and that started to worry her. She keeps explaining that Bryce loves her and Asher so much that she has to accept him even if he's not the sister she's been waiting for. But Raelynn still seems cold with her younger brother.

Until today. Evie is home alone with the children and their dog, Rexx who has become like a guardian, following them everywhere in the house. Nikki is in the studio to record a new album with the band and Evie spends time with her children.

They are out in the garden. A small wooden house was built for them to play with. Evie is sitting on the sunbed with Bryce in her arms. The little one sleeps, but wakes up when he hears footsteps towards him.

Asher and Raelynn approach their mother and the boy says:

"Mommy! We are hungry!"

"Oh, then let's go inside and eat," says Evie and wants to get up from the sunbed.

"But we want to eat here!" Asher demands.

"In the garden?" Evie looks muddled.

"Yes! Mommy! Please!" Her daughter begs her. "Let's have a picnic!"

"That sounds fun!" Evie smiles at her older children. "I think Bryce will like it too," she says, looking at the baby looking curiously at his older siblings.

Evie, with the help of her older children, put a blanket on the green grass in the garden and after she comes from home with food and snacks for the little ones. All four of them sit on the warm blanket and start eating.

Asher eats a piece of watermelon and Rexx, the dog approaches him and wants to smell the piece of watermelon in his hand. Asher intends to reach out his hand, but his mother stops him immediately, telling him:

"Ash! No! Stop! You know you can't give Rexx our food. Especially watermelon. Dogs don't eat that."

The boy lowers his head sadly and takes his hand back so that he looks sideways at the dog and whispers:

"Sorry, Rexx. Maybe next time."

"There won't be another time," says his mother.

Evie puts Bryce down and gives him a small piece of watermelon, which the baby eats with greediness.

"Bryce likes watermelon," Asher laughs at his brother who has watermelon juice on his face.

"Who does not like it?" Evie smiles.

The baby finishes the watermelon in his hand and throws the shell and stretches his tiny hands towards the piece of watermelon in his sister's hand. Raelynn leans back, frowning and shouting:

"No! Mine!"

"Raelynn!" Her mother rebukes her. "It's okay to share with your brother. That's enough for everyone."

Evie sighs at her daughter, who doesn't make any gestures for her younger brother. She's been trying to get her close to Bryce lately, but without effect. Raelynn keeps her distance from him. And Evie doesn't know what else to do. She doesn't even know exactly if this is normal. As a child, she had Florence as her older sister. As she was told, until she found out she was her biological mother. She was 2-3 years old when Florence chose to become a nun. And she was 21 years old when she met her brother, Anthony, who was 3 years old. How do siblings of similar ages behave? She really has no idea.

Bryce glances sadly at his sister and begins to cry. Evie takes another piece of watermelon to give him, but when she looks back at the baby she has a surprise. Raelynn hands the piece of watermelon to Bryce. The baby stops crying and takes it and eats it.

"Well, that's what an older sister has to do," Evie smiles lovingly at her daughter. "You did well."

"I just gave it to him so he wouldn't cry anymore," Raelynn says.

"Oh, my God," Evie sighs and puts her hand to her temple. "You are just like your father..."

After a few more minutes, Bryce finishes eating, Evie wipes his mouth and the baby crawls to his siblings, looking curiously at Asher.

"What's up, Bryce?" Asher asks curiously. "Do you want to tell me something?"

"When will he start talking?" Raelynn asks her mother.

"Soon, sweetie," Evie smiles. "Soon he will tell you a lot of things."

The baby approaches his older brother and starts chatting and finally vomits on him.

"Ew! Gross!" Asher exclaims and looks at his t-shirt who is covered with his brothers vomit.

Raelynn looks amused at the scene in front of her, while Evie approaches Asher and takes off his T-shirt telling him that she needs to bring him another one and finally Raelynn bursts into uncontrollable laughter.

Evie looks at her daughter in amazement and smiles softly.

"What Bryce did to Asher was so funny!" Raelynn laughs.

"That's not funny! Stop it!" Asher growls at his sister.

"Kids! Stop!" Evie says, but she can't help but laugh too.

"What? You are laughing too, mommy?" Asher says and crosses his arms.

"Sorry, honey," Evie says, and she looks at Raelynn approaching Bryce and teaches him to give high five.

"Good job, Bryce," Raelynn says to her brother, who, though he doesn't quite understand what's going on, smiles broadly.

Evie can't take her eyes off them. Maybe this was supposed to make her daughter closer to her brother.
