Evie arrives in the living room where Heather is sitting on the couch, watching TV and eating Popcorn.
The brunette grins, walks over to her friend and sits on the couch next to her, telling her:
"You are too relaxed. The kids are sleeping, right?"
"Obviously," Heather grins and puts her hand in the popcorn bowl and picks it to her mouth. "I guess your kids went to bed too."
"Yes. All 5 sleep."
"And the sixth one is sleeping too?" Heather smiles and looks at Evie's tummy on which the brunette puts her hand.
"He or she probably sleeps too," Evie smiles at her baby bump that start to round. "What movie are you watching?" She asks her and looks at the screen.
Before Heather answers, Evie sees on the screen a movie about a couple. He is asking her to marry him. Evie feels a knot in her stomach and all her comfort disappears, remembering the moment when Nikki proposed to her many years ago.
"Oh, girl, I'm sorry," Heather says, giving her a forgiving look and taking the remote control and changing the channel. "That's not what you need to see now."
"It's okay," Evie smiles weakly. "It's not a big deal."
"It seems to be a big deal," Heather nods. "Look... I hope you and Nikki can reconcile... A divorce... It's not nice... Especially when there are kids."
"I was hoping for that too... but I've already sent him the divorce papers. I'm not kidding, Heather. He thought I wasn't serious. "
"I think you're exaggerating a bit too," the blonde reproaches her even though she feels like telling her that she's actually exaggerating more but she refrains so as not to upset her.
Evie prepares to give him an answer when she feels the phone vibrate in her jeans pocket. She quickly shocks him from her pocket and gasps when she sees Nikki calling her. He sits for a long time, staring at the cell phone screen.
"Are you going to answer?" Heather asks her who's calling. "Maybe it's important."
Evie presses the button on her cell phone without saying anything to her friend and puts it to her ear, speaking in a slightly trembling voice:
"Hello?"
Nikki: "Evie... What are you doing?"
"I'm with Heather... We were watching a movie. Why are you calling? Did you see what you received?"
The brunette hears Nikki sigh and her heart beats much faster than normal.
Nikki: "Babe... I think you exaggerated..."
"Please... don't call me babe... Tell me why you called. I guess you have something to tell me."
There is silence, an oppressive one that Nikki finally says:
Nikki: "I signed up for the rehab."
"Oh... That's good," Evie raises her eyebrows in astonishment.
Nikki: "So... are you coming home?"
"No. Until you get back from rehab," Evie says promptly, Heather next to her raises her eyes shocked by her harsh response and almost chokes with the popcorn in her mouth.
Nikki: "You can't be serious!" Nikki shouts, sounding nervous. "Evie... Please..."
"You heard what I said. When you return from rehab you will see me at home with the kids. By the way... how long will you be there?"
Nikki: "3 months..."
"Oh... Wow!" Evie exclaims, her hand getting tighter and tighter on the cell phone. "3 months... That's a lot... I thought... I thought it was only going to be a month..."
