It's evening now. Evie sits down at the dressing table, removing her makeup. It's been a day since she met Nikki again. And although she thought she would forget about the meeting, it's the other way around. She can't think of anything but Nikki.
She is now extremely confused. Evie no longer realizes what Patrick means to her. It's as if the flame for him goes out. She thought she was madly in love with him. Was she wrong? Only after meeting Nikki once with so much time spent away from each other? How is that possible? Unless... she still has feelings for him.
Then... what about Patrick and her? She's so confused now. Her head hurts, and she feels like it's spinning. She sighs and puts the cleansing disc on the table, unable to drive away these thoughts.
As if that's not enough, Patrick enters the bedroom, his gaze on her and says:
"Hey, my love. What are you doing?"
"Hey, I was getting ready to go to bed," she smiles at him.
Evie watches as Patrick moves closer and stops behind her, leaning over and kissing the top of her head. He puts his hands on her shoulders and looks in the mirror, looking at their reflections.
"We both look tired," he says, smiling.
"Then let's go straight to bed," Evie smiles.
Patrick lowers his hand lower, closer to her, smelling the scent of her hair. Evie blushes slightly. But at that moment she doesn't feel very comfortable that Patrick touches her because before he came into the room, she was thinking about Nikki.
She looks in the mirror and remembers how Nikki used to look at her like that when they were together. In fact, if she lets her imagination run, she sees Nikki instead of Patrick. His physical features seem to change and she sees Nikki. She cam imagines his bright, staring and hungry eyes.
"Have you considered removing this tattoo or maybe cover it with another tattoo?" There is a voice that pulls Evie out of her dreams.
"What?" The brunette winces and looks in the mirror.
Nikki's image disappears and she sees Patrick looking at the tattoo on her chest. The tattoo she did with Nikki a few years ago. He did the same tattoo as hers. Suddenly anger seizes her. She puts her hand to her chest, frowning, and gets up from the chair.
"What's wrong with my tattoo?" She asks Patrick, looking sharply at him.
"Nothing..." Patrick looks panicked and starts to regret what he just said.
"Don't you like my tattoo?" Evie raises an eyebrow, more questioning than ever.
"No, babe. I was just saying," Patrick smiles faintly.
"I don't understand where this came from so suddenly," Evie frowns at him. "Does it bother you that I did it with someone I was with? That was in the past, Patrick," she nods.
"Look, I'm sorry, babe. I did not want to upset you. Let's go to sleep."
Evie would like to say something more, barely refraining from arguing with him. She sighs and decides it doesn't matter and goes to bed. She lays on the bed, Patrick follows her and now he lays down to bed, near her.
She turns her back on him, unable to look at him. She's still mad. She feels his hands around her waist and pull her closer to him. She closes her eyes and makes no move. She falls asleep. With closed eyes from which flow tears of confusion and frustration.
The next morning...
Evie wakes up first. She gets out of bed and looks at Patrick, who is still sleeping. There is acute pain in her stomach. She moans softly and walks slowly to the bathroom. She closes the door and sits on the toilet seat and sees that there is blood on her underwear.
So finally her period came. She's not pregnant. She puts her head on her back and breathes a sigh of relief. She really didn't want that now. Her mind is too blurry and a child would make everything too complicated.
And especially since she is so upset by what Patrick told her last night about her tattoo. He's just jealous. She noticed how he looked at Nikki that night. Most probably Patrick is afraid that Nikki would have another chance at her heart. And does he... still have it? She asks herself this question as she puts herself in the bathtub and washes herself.
After a while, she comes out of the bathroom and sees that Patrick is not there. He's probably in the kitchen and making breakfast. He enjoys doing that. Especially for her. He probably wants to apologize in this way for what he said last night.
She takes advantage of the fact that he is not there and goes to the dressing table. She searches for something in the bottom of a drawer. She takes a box out of there and open it carefully. A small smile appears on her face when she sees the pendant in the form of angel wings that Nikki gave her at the beginning of their relationship. She couldn't give it up. So she kept it there. The brunette takes it in her hand and carefully places her finger on the silver wings. The day Nikki gave it to her immediately appears in her mind. She was 21 then. The most beautiful memory a young woman could have when she was that age.
A tear slid down her face. She doesn't wipe it. She lets it fall on the pendant. Evie sighs and looks at the door. Now she doesn't know what to do. Everything seemed ok and beautiful with Patrick and now... Now old feelings are appearing in her heart. Feelings she thought were gone.
