White roses are placed at the base of the tombstone. Evie, who is on her knees, looks at it. She looks at the name of her grandfather, Gavin Martin. Which she thought for 20 years, almost 21 years that he was her father, she had never had a chance to meet him.

She gets up, Nikki is behind her and puts a hand on her waist and asks her:

"Are you ok?"

"Yes," she nods. "How crazy they could have been?" She asks, still looking at the tombstone.

"What do you want to say?"

"They haven't come to his grave since he died... They didn't keep it clean, they didn't bring him flowers. Olivia and Florence... Did they do this so I wouldn't be in suspicion? How could they? How..."

"I'm so sorry," Nikki sighs, looking sadly at Evie's grandfather's grave.

"I'd like to look for my father," Evie says abruptly, and turns to Nikki, looking at him with shining eyes.

"If that's what you want, I don't see what the problem is," he smiles and brushes her cheek.

"I love you," she says, smiling.

"I love you too, honey," he smiles and kisses her on the lips briefly.

After a few days...

Nikki enters the house and goes to the living room where he finds Evie lying on the couch with a note in her hand, staring at it. She can't hear him coming in so he walks over to her and says:

"Hey... what do you have there?"

"Oh," Evie winces and looks up at him.

She gets up and sits on the couch as he sits down next to her and takes her in his arms.

"I want to meet my father," she says with a visible nervousness in her eyes, still coming to that note. "I didn't want to go straight to his house... It would have been crazy. Maybe I would have provoked him a heart attack," she chuckles slightly, but then she takes a more serious look. "So I called that address. An elderly woman answered me. She told me that Jack Torres hadn't lived there for... almost 21 years," Evie whispers the last words and tears well up in her eyes. "Looks like he left with his family... his parents in another city... 62 miles from here... So he left as soon as I was born... I wouldn't think we both had a chance to meet  in this city. So... I asked that woman for his contact information. She told me she had his phone number. That is," Evie gestures to the note in her hand. "I don't know what to do now," her voice is shaking, as are her hands on the piece of paper.

Nikki puts his hand on her hand holding the note. She looks at him, a tear slides down her face, he wipes it rapidly and a gentle smile appears on his face and speaks in a peaceful voice:

"Hey, don't cry. Everything will be ok. If you really want to do this... do it. At least you will try and you will not regret not doing it."

"What if he's married now?" Evie asks. "What if she has other children now? His wife will hate me... His children too-"

"Shh," Nikki puts an index finger to her lips, silencing her. "Don't think so negatively. Maybe the opposite will actually happen. Just try," he says, and takes his finger from her lips.

"Maybe you're right," she smiles heartily, still with tears in her eyes.

The brunette gets up and goes to the phone. She looks at the note, dials the phone number and moves the receiver at her ear.

Nikki doesn't stop following her. Evie has a great determination in her. He remembers when he called his father years ago. Unfortunately, his case was not with a happy end. But he prays that in Evie's case it will be different.
