Dyaln's POV

I just got off the phone with my dad about some mess that's gonna go down soon as I entered the school building. I never understood why. Why now is the better question. Why enroll me into a school when I've been home-schooled with the best educators in China and then trained to kill. And then at the time when our mob is about to go to war. I don't get it.

I got my schedule from the front office. Turns out I got there late and missed my first 2 periods but that was my last concern. I headed to my 3rd period with the principal, who was secretly my uncle.  As we walked down the hallways, I got looks from everyone we passed. Nothing new. I know what I look like. I know what my my uncle looks like too. It's hard not to stare.

We had just arrived at the door of my 3rd period but hadn't knocked yet.

"What're you waiting for?" I ask my uncle in Chinese.

"Something you need to understand is that nobody has ever seen someone like you before in this school. You're going to get looks. Play cool and don't draw too much attention," he said before knocking on the door.

I nodded before the door open to the middle aged African American woman.

"You must be our new student! I'm Mrs. Hardly. Welcome to my class," she greeted. She thanked my uncle for bringing me here before letting me into the classroom.

When we entered, the room went quite. Mrs. Hardly began introducing me. I tuned most of her talking out till she mentioned my seat.

"Well, you can go sit right there, next to Naomi," she pointed out.

My eyes scanned across the room of gaping boys and girls until my eyes aligned with where Mrs. Hardly was pointing towards.

That's when I saw her.

She was beautiful. Nothing like I had ever seen. Her dark chocolate skin looked smoother than anything I've ever seen. It glowed like a light. Her dark brown eyes shined form the light in the room.

Our eyes connected and for the first time, it felt like my heart stopped. She looked at me with uncertainty which was a look I've never received before in my life so it felt weird and new, especially coming from her.

Right when our eyes connected, she quickly looked away. I put on my stone cold face before walking towards the seat beside her. Before I could sit down, a dark hand appeared in front of it.

A black guy, no taller than 6 feet with barely any facial hair started rambling about the seat being his friend's seat. I just rolled my eyes before dropping my bag and sitting down in the chair.

"That's why you gotta dog waiting in yo fridge," he whispers  next to me.

I curled my  hand into a fist so tight my nails created marks in my palms. From the corner of my eye, I saw the molten chocolate goddess roll her eyes. I slightly relaxed from her presence as the teacher resumed her lecture.

After class was over, Mrs. Hardly pulled me aside for a school tour. She then continued to call the beautiful mystery which I now know her name as Naomi over to her desk.

The teacher said she was the top student and gave out obviously unwanted information according to Naomi's face. I smiled to myself; seeing her annoyed face was cute.

The teacher handed her my schedule and Naomi's eyes widened as it scanned down the list. She sighed before turning around, leaving the classroom, with me following close behind.

She took me down which felt like every hallway in the school before showing all my classes. I truthfully didn't care because I already knew where every classroom was in this school since my uncle owned it, but I didn't stop her because just hearing her angelic voice had my mind foggy.
