Naomi's POV
After an hour drive, we make it to the restaurant. Once we pulled up and parked, I begin to undo my seat belt and open the door but before I could, Dylan opened my door and made room for me to get out.
I raised my eyebrow.
"I have to be a gentleman." he clarified.
I shrugged, not really caring but saying thanks anyways. We reached the restaurant and luckily, it wasn't crowded. Once someone noticed us, a middle- aged Asian woman with glasses came towards us.
"Table for two?" she asked. Once Dylan nodded, the woman instructed us to follow her as she led us to a table.
She laid out our menus before telling us someone would be with us shortly.
"Have you been here before?" I asked him, getting rid of any soon-to-be awkward silence.
"Yes, I have. Many times. I used to come here with my mother and father." he stated with a smile.
I slowly nodded just as a girl approaches us. She was a young light-skinned girl with her straight hair tied in a ponytail. She had light brown eyes and freckles. She was really pretty.
"Welcome to Shanghai 21. I'm Lisa; I'll be serving you today. Can I start you off with drinks?" she stated then asked looking towards Dylan.
Dylan was busy looking at the menu before he looked up, realizing our eyes were on him.
"What do you want, Naomi?" he asked me.
"I'll get a Shirley Temple." I stated.
"I'll get the same thing." Dylan quickly followed behind.
The girl nodded before walking away.
Throughout the minutes, we scanned through the menus in silence. I didn't have a problem with it. I actually prefer less conversation, especially at a restaurant.
After a while, the girl came back with our drinks. She set them down before asking us if we were ready to order.
"I'll get the Shanghai Style Pan- Fried Noodles." I state. The girl writes it down before looking at Dylan.
"I'll get the Seafood Pan- Fried Noodles." he states. Lisa quickly jots it down.
"It'll be ready soon." she says before grabbing Dylan's menu. I continued to scan over the menu to get something to go for my mom but before I could find it, the menu was snatched out my hand.
My eyes jolt up to see the Lisa girl giving me a fake smile with a glare before walking off, both menus in hand.
I roll my eyes as I take a sip of my drink.
"Were you looking for something on the menu?" Dylan asks.
"Yeah, I was going to by my mom something for dinner so she won't have to cook when she gets back home. But I'll order it when we're done eating." I reply.
Dylan hesitantly nods.
"So tell me about yourself." Dylan says. I raise my eyebrow.
"Like what?"
"I don't know about your family or something."
"Well, my mom is a nurse and my dad's an architect. My mom was born in Jamaica and my dad was born in Nigeria." I start off.
"What about you?" he asks.
"I was born here- Manhattan, New York." I reply.
He nods in understanding.
