Naomi's POV
I listened intently as Dylan finished his story.
"That's the last time I ever saw my mom." he ended as he wiped tears from his eyes. A frown sat on my face and for the first time, I pitied him. But no matter how many times he wiped his tears away, they just kept coming down.
"When I returned from the woods, her body was gone and my dad told me to pack my stuff because we were leaving and never coming back. I packed up all my memories of my mom that day." he sniffed.
"It's my fault though," he said as he looked up at me with eyes full of tears. His green eyes seemed to sparkle from the water flowing inside them.
"I should've moved. I should've dodged the bullet. I-I could've dodged it-" he didn't finish before he began to break down.
I didn't event think before going up to him and pulling him into my embrace. I hugged him so tight I was afraid of breaking his bones. As soon as I did his arms wrapped around my waist tightly. He buried his face into my neck as he cried softly into my sweater. I felt my skin moisten from his tears.
I didn't say anything as much as I wanted to. I just gave him his time to grieve. Just from looking at him, I could tell he wasn't the type to wear his heart on his sleeve. He doesn't look like he cries often either. So I just held him in my embrace. Usually I would be mad or uncomfortable in a situation like this but shockingly, I'm not.
We stayed like that for what like hours but it didn't bother me. Once his tears finally dried up, we let each other go. Even though I felt hesitant to, I did. When we parted away, his head was down, like he was ashamed to look me in the eyes after what he just did.
"Look at me, Dylan." I told him. He kept his head down.
"Dylan, look at me." I told him once more. He still kept his head down.
I sighed before bringing my finger to his chin and raising it up myself. When I our eyes connected, I saw nothing but sadness and vulnerability swimming through his. His face was covered in dried up tears. One more slipped down his face but I quickly wiped it and kept my hand there.
Unknowingly, I began to caress his cheek with my thumb. Something else I saw in his eyes that I've never thought I'd see, was worry and fear.
"I'm sorry I kept this from you." he croaked out. I furrowed my eyebrows.
"It's fine. It wasn't my business anyways. I was just being petty because you had a girl around." I said but then froze when I realized what I just said.
I automatically felt heat rise to my cheek while Dylan arched an eyebrow in amusement.
"Is that so?" he said leaning in close. His hand that I forgot was still wrapped around my waist began to pull me in closer.
"I could say the same for you." I said before placing a hand on his hard chest and pushing him back slowly.
"What is that supposed to mean?" he questions with a shocked expression on his face.
"You glaring daggers at Mateo as he was talking to me." I say with a knowing smirk on my face. Dylan pondered my response before looking at me.
"Who the fuck is Mateo?" he asked with serious question.
I groan in frustration as I shake my head with a hand on my forehead.
"He's the new student. Along with his sister, Maria. They're the two siblings that were talking to me the other week in the parking lot." I explained to him.
