Closure, what is the meaning really? Is it really something you need in order to move on with your life. Or, is it something you strive for and then once you get the closure you aren't sure what is next. The one thing you put all your energy into has now come to an end, yet it doesn't numb the pain.

Jack Dalton, he was a fine man from what you had heard through the grapevine at work. You joined just a few months after he died. You began to hear stories of the great Jack Dalton. You watched as the team you just joined mourned the loss. Desperately working day and night to track down this Kovac, the assailant who murdered their dear friend. Now even though you had just joined you weren't one to deny anyone justice.

Now, here you all are. Hours after catching the killer, now knowing you avenged Jack and yet no one felt any better. Everyone was sound asleep, or so you thought. Your eyes were closed trying to fall asleep, when you felt someone gently bump into your seat, walking by. Your eyes opened as you watched Macs back walk into the bathroom.

At first you thought nothing of it, until you jumped at the sound of loud banging, causing you to suddenly be worried. So you cautiously got up to walk towards the bathroom. Gently knocking on the door before peeking your head.

On the floor you found Mac, sitting there crying with his face buried into the palms of his hands. "Mac?" You whispered, before closing the door and kneeling down next to him.

Mac was startled at first but quickly tried to wipe the tears away "I thought everyone was asleep." He said in quiet tone.

You smiled sympathetic as you placed a hand on his shoulder "Not everyone." Referring to yourself. "Are you going to be okay? I know these last few months have been hard, and then with what happened today. I know it can be very overwhelming."

Mac huffed as he tried to compose his breathing through the tears "I thought, I dunno, I thought I'd feel better or at least feel differently than I do right now. We got the killer I should be celebrating but...."

"It doesn't bring him back." You finished for him, and he just slowly nodded. "Mac, I know I didn't know Jack, I mean all I did was fill a job slot on the team but...I don't think he'd want you to feel like this. To be beating yourself up for something that wasn't your fault. I hope you know he'd want better for you."

Mac then slowly stood up, and you mirrored the same. "Your right, I mean he'd be teasing me relentlessly for how I am being right now." Looking over at you now he gave you a small smile "Thank you y/n."

You gave him a smile right back "It's no problem. Glad I could be of assistance."

Then you watched as Mac hesitated for a moment before reaching for your hand "Hey, just so you know. You didn't just fill a job slot, you joined a family. I just thought you should know that."

Trying to hide the blush on your cheeks you awkwardly looked down at your feet and whispered "Thank you Mac." Then before you knew what was happening Mac stepped closer to you, still holding your hand, there was hardly any space between you both. Finally, you looked up and found yourself getting lost in his baby blue eyes. Then you watched as he tried to slowly lean in, his lips just inches from yours.
