Festivities were in full swing at your works annual Christmas party. Everyone was huddled throughout the office space in different clusters of people each having their own individual conversations. While you stood in the corner by yourself, pathetically sipping on your apple cider.

He said he'd be here. He said the mission would not take long and yet an hour before you left for the party he had texted you that a situation had come up and he would not make it after all. Typical. It wasn't his fault but this happened all the time. As much as you loved Mac, his lifestyle was frustrating, but you had agreed to it so what right do you have to complain?

Finally throwing back the last of the beverage, you sat the fluted glass on the table next to you and began to walk off to find your coat and purse. The last thing you felt like doing was partying. Once you got your coat on, you grabbed your clutch and made your way out of the party. Not even bothering to say goodbye to anyone, it wasn't like you wouldn't see them first thing Monday.

When you got to your apartment you went back into your bedroom to change out of the cocktail dress you were in, wanting out of it immediately. Once you were in your PJs you just grabbed a pint of Ben & Jerry's out of the freezer, curled into bed, and turned on Home Alone. About a quarter into your Chunky Monkey there was a knock on your door. Reluctantly, you got up, carrying your ice cream with you while you still ate it. You already had a feeling you knew who it was.

When you opened the door there was a pitiful looking Mac standing in your doorway. You just turned around and immediately started to walk away while shoving a big mouthful of ice cream into your mouth. As you made your way back to your bedroom, you heard Mac making his way inside and shutting the door behind him before following you "I tried to call you, and text."

Getting back under the covers and unpausing your movie, with a mouth full of ice cream you said "I turned my phone off."

Mac was standing in the doorway of your bedroom now, scared to walk all the way in. You were pissed and he knew it "Baby, if I could have been there I would have been."

You let out an exasperated sigh, before aggressively pausing the movie again "You don't think I know that? God Mac! That does not make it any better." Setting your ice cream down on the nightstand you sat up straighter while crossing your legs underneath each other Indian style. "I'm pretty sure everyone in the office thinks I made you up. This incredible boyfriend I am always talking about that just happens to never be around! You should have seen the way they looked at me when I said my boyfriend had to work again."

Mac sighed, hanging his head down out of guilt "I don't know how many times I can say I am sorry. You know what I do is important, and what I can do in the field helps in a lot of ways Y/n."

Now sitting there, feeling stupid and selfish, all you could do was stare at your hands that rested on your lap. On the verge of tears you whispered "I know I just....miss you. I don't really think I even care that much about the events you miss with other people around as much as I just miss being with you, just us."

Mac had been leaning against the doorframe, listening intently, and when he heard your voice break as you started to cry he felt his chest tighten knowing he was the reason behind it. Pushing himself off the wall he made his way over to, sitting across from you on the bed "I miss you too baby, all the time. Even when I am on a mission, trying to keep myself from getting distracted, I miss you." He reached over and took one of your hands in his.

All you could do was squeeze his hand, as you looked up at him with a sad smile on your face as the tears slowly slid down your cheeks.

Mac frowned, as he reached over to wipe them away with his thumb "Hey, I'm here now. Let's go do something, anything you want."

You couldn't help but smile at Mac, a genuine one  "Mac it's ten at night, it's late. I'm sure your tired after your mission."

Mac just shook his head "I am never too tired to spend time with my girl." Then he perked up, before jumping off the bed "I have an idea, you don't even need to change, just get some slippers on your feet." He went over to grab your forgotten ice cream "I'll put this back in the freezer for you and meet you out in your living room." He kissed your cheek before skipping off, leaving you more confused than ever.

This man gave you emotional whiplash.

A half an hour later you and Mac are driving around random neighborhoods as you take in different house's Christmas lights. Mac knew how much you loved doing this with your parents when you were little so he wanted to bring back something from your childhood. Looking away from the wheel just for a brief moment he looked at you and saw the huge grin on your face, which made him smile as well "So was this a good idea or what? Am I still in the dog house?"

You giggled at Mac before looking back at him "I guess you are forgiven, for now. Mac this is amazing, thank you." Reaching over you kissed his cheek as he focused back on the road.

Mac took his free hand and placed it on your thigh, needed to touch you somehow "I'm glad I was able to save the evening I ruined."

You frowned knowing how bad he felt, and you coming down on him as hard as you had probably did not help. "Hey I said I forgive you ok? I'm over it really." Leaning back into him you tucked your face into the crook of his neck to give him soft kisses.

Mac couldn't help but think 'you forgive me this time but what about when this happens again.'

                                                                                             ***

Later that night the two of you were cuddled into your bed under the covers. You were still in your PJ's and Mac was just in his boxer briefs while he helped you finish the ice cream form before. When Mac went to put a spoonful into his mouth though, he missed a little and some dripped onto his chest. Sucking air between his teeth as he hissed "Ah cold!"

You giggled, leaning closer into him "I told you to leave your shirt on until after the ice cream was finished."

Mac groaned as he looked around for something to wipe it off but was quickly distracted when he suddenly felt your tongue sliding along his pec as you licked him clean. His eyes staring down at you, clearly feeling some type of way now "That was....hot. Is it weird that I'm turned on by that?"

Looking up at him with innocent eyes you smirked "I'm your girlfriend, I'm suppose to turn you on, it's in the job description." You grinned before licking back over the same spot "Just double checking, wouldn't want you to get sticky."

Mac's eyes quickly changed as they grew dark with lust, he could feel his body reacting to you. Taking the ice cream in his hand, he sat it on your nightstand before rolling over to lay on top of you which caused you to break out into a fit of laughter. Lowering his lips onto yours he kissed you lovingly while whispering out a "I love you. Move in with me."

You pulled back slightly, surprised by this "What?" Maybe you heard him wrong.

Mac just smiled "I said move in with me, I love you and it would make things to much easier. With me being away all the time, I could just come straight home and you'd be there waiting for me. I wouldn't have to worry about the time of night I got home worried about driving to your place and then back to mine in the morning. Same with you having to drive out to my place, I know we only live about twelve minutes away but why go through all of that. You could be there, with me, we'd see more of each other and-"

You cut him off, having heard enough already, and pulled him down into a heated kiss "Yes, yes I'll move in you. I love you."

Mac grinned against your kiss as he just escalated it into a even deeper kiss, one thing led to another and soon you were making love with your boyfriend/ soon to be roommate.
