It had been a very grueling mission for sure, if Mac hadn't made that device none of them would've made it back. You knew Mac always felt like the world rested on his shoulders, with the amount of pressure that was staked on his quick thinking. If he made even the slightest hiccup, it would result in disaster.

Here lately, you could tell it was really taking a toll on him. He'd have constant panic attacks at home, waking up in the middle of the night with nightmares. So far it hadn't happened at work, that was until today.

You were downstairs of the Phoenix, patching up another fellow agents wound from the field as the on call nurse. That was until Bozer cane running into your exam room shouting for you to come upstairs. It was an emergency, involving Mac.

Without hesitation, you told the agent to sit still till you got back. Before you quickly followed Bozer upstairs to the war room. When you both entered, you saw Mac sitting on the table. He was hunched over, his breathing staggering while rocking back and forth.

"He won't let us help him, what's going on? He won't ask for anyone other than you." Jack frowned. Asbhe helplessly stood there, along with the whole team.

"Everyone needs to leave, please. Too many people can overwhelm him and it'll just make things worse. I know you all care but this is what he needs." You stated.

Without any argument everyone left, wanting to do whatever they could to help their friend.

You ran to Mac, who was holding his face in his hands while sobbing. "Baby, remember what I told you. You have to take slow deep breaths. You've gotta get your breathing back under control." You said in a soft comforting tone.

Mac heard you, and began to do what you said. His crying also began to die down as he slowly looked up at you while you sat on your knees facing him. "Baby, I know you don't want to but you might need to take something for these panic attacks. I can prescribe you something."

"No, I don't need drugs." Mac said firmly as he was started to come down from his episode.

You frowned, while wiping his tear stained cheeks with the palms of your hands. "Mac-."

"I said no y/n!" He snapped.

You jumped back, slightly frightened. He had never raised his voice at you before. You watched as his face instantly grimaced in regret.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean-." He sighed, while looking back down at the ground.

"It's okay." You whispered.

"No, it's not." He said before standing up, bringing you up with him as he held your hands in his. "I love you. I wouldn't be able to get through these attacks without you. I was fine until I had my debriefing. I had to go into detail step by step what happened back there. Talking about it again, it just...." He bit on his bottom lip.

You could see the tears forming in those beautiful blue eyes of his. Not wanting him to get upset again you shook your head "Hey, don't, let's not talk about it. You'll have another attack. They take alot out of you and you need your rest. Let me talk to Matty okay? Then we'll go home and I'll make your favorite meal for dinner?"

Mac smiled weakly "That sounds amazing. I'm so lucky I have you."

You smiled, as you kissed his cheek softly before walking out of the war room. Shutting the door softly behind you, you saw everyone standing there looking concerned.

"Macs been having panic attacks frequently for the past month. Matty, he puts so much pressure on himself. He feels like it's all on him and his "inventions" for everyone to get home safe. That's not healthy, and I don't want to overstep but Mac needs a break. He needs time off, it's critical for his mental health."

The whole team looked shocked by this revelation since until now none of them knew of Macs problems he was having. Matty sighed as she shook her head "Of course, Macs health is the most important thing right now. How about a month off? He deserves it, we'll get by just fine without him for a little while."

You smiled faintly before thanking her. When Mac came out of the war room everyone immediately pulled him into a group hug. He already knew after experiencing one at work, you'd have to now tell everyone.

When Matty told Mac about his time off, he didn't handle it all that well. "No Matty! A month?! What about the people that need my help? I'm too much of a valued agent to be left behind."

"Mac, this is an order not a request. Your mental health is too important to jeopardize, we'll be fine. Now go home and take some very much needed tlc."

When you guys got home however, Mac was anxiously pacing back and forth in the living room while you cooked dinner. When you reached a stopping point, you walked over to Mac and grabbed him by his shoulders to stop the pacing.

"Honey, you've gotta relax. It'll be fine." You watched as Mac was about to argue with him, but you placed a finger to his lips "End of conversation. Now let's go eat."

After dinner, you both laid together on the couch watching reruns of I Love Lucy, while Mac softly stroked your back. You laid on top of him, while your chin rested on his chest.

"Let's go on a trip. Matty probably won't give me a month off too but I can possibly get a week." You smiled, getting excited just talking about it. With your jobs the two of you didn't get to spend alot of time together.

Mac perked up, and you then saw the first genuine smile from him in months. "Really? Like where?"

"Anywhere." You shrugged, as you giggled softly "As long as I'm with you that's all that matters to me. I love you Mac, I hope you know I'm always going to be here."

"I love you too baby, I know you will. Which makes me love you even more." He pulled you closer, so that he could lovingly kiss your lips.

The two of you spent the night talking about places to go for your trip. You could already see a change in Mac, he was just so relaxed and happy. You knew this would be the best thing for him, and you were beyond proud to be the one by his side who he relied on more than anything.

I just wanna say, as someone who has had regular panic attacks its okay to ask for help. Mental health is a very serious issue that should not be taken lightly. If you or someone you know is struggling talk to someone, or have that person talk to someone. There is absolutely no shame in seeking help, take care of yourselves. I love you all ❤️
