When Aaliyah first met Fezco, she admired his sense of care straight away.

When Rue had convinced Aaliyah to meet her dealer she didn't know what to expect.

She didn't know whether she was meeting Pablo Escobar or Tony Montana.

And when she saw Fezco for the first time, he exceeded her expectations completely.

The two ended up creating a friendship and when Aaliyah would need help coping she would go to Fezco for help.

She felt like talking to Fezco was a new high. As if she didn't need the drugs to cope anymore.

That definitely was the case when she saw what happened to Rue.

It was like Fezco was her Guardian Angel protecting her from harm. That was clear when he beat Nate to a pulp at the party.

She didn't know what to think of Fezco hurting Nate. She wanted to feel happy but something in her was concerned about the amount of aggression that Fezco showed that night.

Almost as if he had been bottling it up for years and Nate was the perfect person to let it out on.

She knew that she needed to speak to Fezco and it may have taken her a few days to pull her self together but she was finally ready.

Aaliyah didn't know what brought her to Fezco's that day but she knew that she needed to see him.

She had convinced her mother to let her leave the house more often after her 'acceptable' behaviour for the past few days.

She had gained her trust and hopefully she could keep it if nothing bad would happen.

Aaliyah knocked on the door of Fezco's apartment and waited patiently, biting her nails. The door swung open and Fezco locked eyes with Aaliyah.

He cleared his throat and smiled "Hey, Lee. What brings you here?"

Aaliyah shrugged "I'm gonna be honest, I don't know. I just wanted someone to talk to, I guess."

Fezco looked behind him and opened the door wider "Yeah, come in." Aaliyah walked in and stopped when she saw a blonde girl sitting on the sofa.

The girl waved and smiled "Hi, I'm Faye."

Aaliyah smiled with confusion "I'm Aaliyah."

Fezco stepped in front of her "Can you give us some space?"

Faye got up from the couch and stumbled over to another room. Aaliyah watched her with a jealous look whilst Fezco sat down on the couch casually.

When Faye disappeared Aaliyah looked at Fezco "Who was that?"

Fezco scoffed "We got into some trouble and she has to stay here for a bit. There's no need to worry."

Aaliyah smiled and sat down next to him "Why would I be worried?"

Fezco shrugged teasingly "Well, I've known you for a while now and every time I seem to talk to another girl you do those eyes."

Aaliyah frowned "What eyes?" Fezco laughed "When you squint your eyes and stare."

Aaliyah rolled her eyes in annoyance "I do not do that."

Fezco smirked "I'm pretty sure you do. You're in denial." Aaliyah shoved Fezco hard and laughed "Shut up. You don't know what you're talking about."

The two burst into laughing fits and tried to calm themselves down.

Aaliyah put her hand on her stomach to control her breathing and she looked at Fezco "I missed this."

Fezco took a hit of his spliff and nodded "Yeah, me too."

Aaliyah looked at Fezco with concern "Can I ask why you beat Nate up?"

Fezco sat up "I did because I care about. He's fucked up so many lives and most importantly...he's fucked up yours. And I ain't gonna let him get away with that."

Fezco scoffed "Shit, Lee,  I would do anything for you and that scares me. I'd probably kill for you if you asked."

Aaliyah laughed "Well, I wouldn't ask you to do that. But thank you. He definitely had it coming. I just don't understand why he is the way he is. Something must have happened that I don't know about."

Aaliyah sighed "You seemed really angry."

Fezco licked his lips and looked down "I felt like I had a responsibility. Ever since I met you I always felt like I needed to protect you. And I felt like I haven't done that. So when Nate started messing with you, Rue and Jewel, I knew-"

Aaliyah frowned "It's Jules. Not Jewel." Fezco looked at the girl with disbelief "Are you ducking serious right now?"

Aaliyah shrugged "Well, if you're gonna talk about her you're gonna have to get the girl's name right."

Fezco rolled her eyes "It doesn't matter, Lee. You know what I mean. The point is...I'm tired of seeing you get hurt."

Aaliyah nodded slowly "I understand. I've known you long enough to understand you."

Fezco could tell that Aaliyah was unaware of what Nate had done to a lot of people.

He wanted to mention the visit he got from Nate's father but he didn't want her involved with Nate anymore.

The boy scratched his head "Well, at least I know that your safe now. He definitely won't be messing with you again." Aaliyah smiled genuinely "Well, that's the best news I've heard all day."

Fezco laughed at her comment and looked at Aaliyah nervously.

He felt a sudden urge to have her back in his arms again and he felt his confidence coming back to him.

Aaliyah could feel Fezco leaning in until Ashtrah barged through the door. "Yo, Fez, why is there lo-" Aaliyah quickly moved away from Fezco and stood up.

Ashtray quickly went silent when he saw Aaliyah and she grabbed her bag.

"Shit, Lee, I didn't know you were here." Aaliyah smiled at the young boy "It's fine. I was just leaving anyway."

Aaliyah looked at Fezco "I'll see you soon." Fezco nodded "Okay." She then walked out of the apartment not looking back.
