Heartbreak is something that most human beings go through at some point in their life.
Whether it's getting dumped by text or witnessing someone's death, heartbreak fucking sucks.
Aaliyah Hill was no exception.
She dated this boy named Corey Miller in 10th grade. Corey was a football player but he didn't do it because it was cool.
He did it because he was passionate about it and Aaliyah liked that about him. That's why she fell for him so easily.
He didn't brag about what he did to girls and he didn't treat them like objects.
The first time Aaliyah spoke to him was at a party.
28th of July, 2017
Aaliyah entered the high school party next to Nate Jacobs who made sure that every guy kept their gaze away from her.
She nervously walked in and immediately saw Corey next to the drinks pouring himself a glass of Coke.
Aaliyah looked at Nate and smiled "I'm gonna go and socialise, okay?"
Nate looked at Aaliyah with a nervous expression "Uh...okay. If you need me I'll be with the girls."
Aaliyah rolled her eyes and walked over to Corey. She rubbed her hands together nervously, not knowing how to start a conversation with the boy.
She grabbed a cup and stood next to his side "No alcohol?"
Corey put the Coke down and looked at Aaliyah with a cute smile "Hi! Ugh...I actually have football practice tomorrow morning so I'm gonna have to take it easy tonight."
Aaliyah nodded and grinned "More for me I guess." Corey laughed and furrowed his eyebrows "You're Aaliyah, right?"
Aaliyah nodded "Yeah, and you're Corey Miller." The boy nodded and he blushed at the fact that she knew who she was.
"I didn't know I had a reputation." Aaliyah shrugged "You do now."
Corey started to pour Aaliyah a drink and he handed it to her "Do you wanna dance?"
And that was the question that started it all. That damn dance. Aaliyah was surprisingly sober that night and she spent the most of it with a sober Corey.
She knew that everyone was looking at the two...but she didn't care.
She was having the time of her life. And it got better for a while.
