A week passed before I finally told Ms. Nancy to call Paul.
"Are you sure honey?"
"I can't stay here Ms. Nancy." It was true, if not for the anti-anxiety medication I would've probably had over ten panic attacks this week. When Danny, Brittany and I went to go pack up my stuff from Aunt May's house I felt like I was going to throw up and had to go outside for some fresh air multiple times.
"I know sweetheart, I know." She pulled me into her arms and I buried my head in her shoulder. I hadn't talked about leaving to Brittany or Danny since before Aunt May died. I would have to soon though.
"I'll call him right now Abby."
"Just at least give me till Friday."
"I'll try honey, I only have temporary custody though and you know that."

"So your mom called Paul today." I was pacing Brittany's room while Danny and Brittany stared at me like I was crazy.
"Oh." Was all they said
"I'm leaving Saturday."
I expected there to be a little arguing. I expected there to be tears. I expected for us to sit down and spill our feelings for each other, to yell at each other, to sit in awkward silence, to do something like that. I never expected what happened next.
"Well then we have to do something!" Brittany yelled enthusiastically
"What?" I exclaimed
"We should do something crazy! Something we've always wanted to do!"
"Brittany's right. Maybe minus the crazy part, but she's right. We should do something together, it won't make it any better if we sit around and mope about it. We should make this the best five days we've spent together."
I looked between the two of them and then I busted out laughing. I doubled over and laughed so hard to where there was tears streaming down my face and my sides ached. They both started at me in shock, mouth agape, until Danny started laughing. He laughed even harder when he looked at Brittany who was looking between the two of us, the most hilarious expression on her face.
She started laughing too and soon we were all sitting on the ground laughing our heads off for the first time in two weeks. For the first time in a long time I felt genuinely happy.

Ms. Nancy picked us up at the mall Thursday afternoon after a full day of shopping with Brittany and Danny.
Brittany insisted that I needed a whole new wardrobe for England. Danny didn't think so but was a good sport and went along anyway.
Monday we spent on the beach. Tuesday we went to Kalahari and stayed till early this morning.
It wasn't the most exciting things ever, but it was worth every penny.
We climbed into the car after putting our bags in the trunk.
"I hopped off the plane at LAX with a dream and my cardigan." Brittany started singing along with the radio and I joined in automatically.
"Welcome to the land of fame excess, am I gonna fit in?" We both looked at Danny and raised our eyebrows.
"No."
"Please?" We whined together
"Stop that. No."
"Well then I guess we'll just have to sing really loud and annoy you for the whole. Ride. Home." Brittany sang
"That's when the taximan turned on the radio and a Jay-Z song was on!" I sang
"And a Jay-Z song was on." Brittany sang
"And a Jay-Z song was on!" We sang together
We both looked at Danny expectantly and he sighed.
"So I put my hands up!" The three of us continued singing the whole way back to Brittany's house laughing and poking fun at each other.

"Is this all of it?" Brittany asked once we closed my third suitcase.
"I think so."
"I'm gonna miss you so much." She wrapped her arms around me and I patted her back.
"Goodbyes are for tomorrow. We still have all night." I fought the heavy weight in my chest at the thought of leaving. I pushed it to the back of my mind for the thousandth time since it was scheduled.
"Well why don't we say our goodbyes now? Then you can focus on Danny in the morning."
"What do you mean?"
"Well um, like you know. We say our goodbyes tonight so you and Danny can say your guy's at the airport."
"We'll say goodbye in the morning."

After we had loaded everything up into the back of Ms. Nancy's car I grabbed my carry-on and looked at Brittany with tears in my eyes.
I met Brittany the first day of preschool, since that day we had been best friends. We had cried together, we had laughed together, we had yelled together, we had fought together. No matter how many times we fought or argued we were still always there for each other. I'm going to miss not having someone have my back 24/7 no matter what the circumstances. I'm going to miss my best friend.
We kind of just stood there looking at each other. I wanted to take in every single detail. From her white vans, to her dark blue skinny jeans, then up to her white lacey tank top and gray sweater, her friendship necklace, her golden-brown hair in all of it's natural waviness beauty, and then finally her eyes, her warm brown eyes that could make anyone's day better just by looking at them.
We walked into each other's arms and just stood there for a couple of minutes.
"This isn't goodbye." I said into her hair
"It's a-a see you later because you know for sure we're going to visit you. And you're going to visit Danny and I too."
"I love you so, so much." I felt the hot tears running down my face. "And of course we'll visit each other."
"I love you too, so very much." She sniffles and we pulled away at the same time. We wiped our tears away and laughed.
Hand in hand we walked to Ms. Nancy's car, she was waiting for us in the front seat.
"Ready to go?" She asked, and I could hear the sadness in her voice.
"As ready as I'll ever be."
