The Meyers' Estate

Chapter 25

There was Brittany, my best friend, on a hospital bed covered in bruises and bandages. She looked so broken and hurt I couldn't take it anymore. I turned to Danny and buried my face in his shoulder and cried. I cried so hard that I was sure Danny would need another shirt. She wasn't awake and she was broken, she looked dead.

She was pale and her usually perfectly done hair was knotty and messy. There were so many tubes connected to her you barely could tell it was Brittany.

I felt like my heart was literally breaking in my chest.

I've looked like this before.

Aunt May had looked like this before.

And now I'm watching my best friend lay in a bed the same way.

"Abby, are you okay?"

"I don't like seeing her like this."

"No one does. Do you want to leave?"

"No." I let go of Danny and wiped my eyes. I walked up to the bed and placed my hand on hers. It was warm. She may be broken, but she's alive.

"Hey Brittany, it's Abby. I heard what happened to you and I came as soon as I heard. I'm really sorry this had to happen to you." My voice caught in my throat. "But thanks for being there for me, if it was this hard seeing me like this I have no clue how you did it.

"I want you to know that I'm going to be here for you, I won't leave until you're good and ready for me to." Danny came up behind me and wrapped his hands around me.

"Isaac, Alex, and Chris came with me. They all want to meet you, especially Isaac. I have so many different things to tell you about him. England is great, my family is great, I just wish you and Danny could be there. You'll have to visit me there sometime and-" I stopped abruptly when Brittany shifted her hand and then her eyes gently opened.

"Abby...?" Her voice was raspy but it sounded like Brittany.

"Hey Brittany." I said softly.

"What are you doing here?"

"I came to see you."

"And you brought your brothers and Isaac?"

"Yeah. They want to meet you."

"Well send them in!" Her eyes lit up and she went to move but Danny stopped her.

"Hold on there, only two people at a time." He laughed

"Send the nurse in, we need to have a little chat." Danny and I started laughing so hard I almost forgot that I was on the verge of breaking down only seconds before.

"Alright, alright." Danny walked out the door.

"I'll stay with you." I told her.

"By the way I heard everything you said."

"Good."

"So what about Isaac?"

"He took me to Paris."

"What?!"

"Yeah we went to this expensive restaurant and the to the top of the Eiffle tower and we stayed in France with his friends for a few days and it was amazing."

"Not as amazing as you." Isaac said from behind me.

I spun around and gaped at him. "You're a ninja!"

"I am?" He asked confusedly.

"I didn't even hear you come in!"

"Maybe you're hearing is bad Abby because I heard him come in, I just didn't tell you." Brittany laughed
