Let's talk about shifting hypnosis, meditation and subliminals. These can help you shift but keep in mind they're optional.
Shifting hypnosis has proved very effective for many people. I wouldn't be able to explain exactly how it works but it basically helps you subconsciously. If it doesn't work the first time you try it, give yourself a few more tries to get more comfortable and more accustomed to it. If doesn't work on you, don't stress it.
Meditation is recommended by many MANY shifters. I'm not a fan of it, but you should give it a try. Meditation mainly helps with concentration, which can be rather useful during a method, preventing you from getting distracted. There are plenty of videos on YouTube you can use to meditate. In case you have trouble meditating on your own, you can try guided meditation, instead. Most of them are made for shifting so it will prepare you mentally to shift. Once again, it is up to you how you use it. You can listen to a guided meditation during the day or you can meditate before doing your method and you can choose not to meditate at all.
You can use subliminals however you please as well. Most people use them during their methods. You can use them to meditate or you can fall asleep listening to them. Instead of a subliminal you can also use a playlist or a soundscape that has something to do with the place you are shifting to.
