The only thing keeping you from shifting is you. Most commonly it's a mindset or a subconscious problem. In the first case, you're probably obsessed with shifting and are desperate to get to your DR. If this is you, then you should take a step back and even take a break if you need. Take all the time you need to work on your mindset. For me working on your mindset means understanding that you can shift, that you will and that you are doing nothing wrong. In the second case, you should also take a step back and have a talk with yourself, if you will. Try to see if there is anything you are afraid of or if you have any negative thoughts/doubts and break them down to get to their source. Once you get to their source, work though them by understanding for example that you are not the exception to the rule and that you can shift.
Your beliefs can also hold you back. Say, you think that if you move during your method, you won't shift, understand it's false. Do so with any of the thoughts you have. Shifting in itself isn't complicated. You can shift by just believing you will wake up in your DR. Regardless of a messy room or of unfinished homework or of choosing not to do a method. You are your own blockage. There is no external force that stops you from shifting.
