Chapter Eleven:
I woke up in Tyler's arms, him snoring in my ear. Beca and Hunter were probably getting breakfast. Something felt different. I shook the feeling away and went to the bathroom. I got into the shower and let the water calm my nerves.
I turned off the water. I stepped out into the foggy air. I wiped my hand across the mirror to free it of dew. My eyes were no longer puffy from crying myself to sleep. I looked away from the mirror to the door. I opened it and walked to my suitcase. Tyler was still sleeping, so I took it to the bathroom.
I pulled my purple, knee-length dress out. The straps were thin and a thin, black belt went around under my breasts. I threw on a strapless bra and panties. The dress came over my body. My makeup came next. I lined under my eyes with black eyeliner. I put on a coat of mascara. I put a light layer of purple eyeshadow on my lids. Finally, I dabbled on some pale lip gloss, contrasting with my tan skin.
When I finally came out, Beca and Hunter were still gone, and so was Tyler. I checked my phone for any messages, but found none. I saw that it was still time to get breakfast, so I let my hair down. I grabbed my room key and headed to the dining area. I found Beca and Hunter savagely eating at a booth. I grabbed a plate and plopped down next to Beca.
"Hey, sleepyhead." Hunter said between bites of toast.
"Thanks for not leaving a note or sending a text." I shoved the eggs into my mouth.
"Well, we figured you would end up coming down here. Which reminds me." Hunter went to the front desk and came back with a cake. There were nineteen lit candles atop the frosting.
Why did he have a birthday cake? Beca's been nineteen for a few months and my birthday isn't until November 4th. Shit. I looked at my phone. The date read November 4th. It's my birthday. Leave it to me to forget my own birthday. That's why I had a strange feeling when I woke up.
"Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, dear Ali. Happy birthday to you." Beca and Hunter sang as loud as possible.
I laughed and blew out the candles in one breath. Nineteen. I'm nineteen. Great way to spend your birthday with your brother in jail, your dad in the graveyard, and your boyfriend sleeping like the dead. It's perfect. Not.
Hunter cut the cake and gave me the first piece. German Chocolate. Yum. Everyone who was in the room was given a piece.
"So, you're present is back home. I forgot it when you were rushing me out the door." Beca scrunched up her nose.
"It's fine. I totally forgot anyway. I'm gonna go back to the room. Are you guys coming?"
Hunter shook his head. "We're gonna visit old friends that never left."
I left them and headed to the room. When I opened the door, I saw flower petals leading to mine and Tyler's bed. On the bed, looking very sexy in just boxers, was Tyler.
"Happy birthday, sweetheart." He pulled me onto the bed.
"How did you know?" I'd never told him.
"Your brother told me."
"Well, thank you." I kissed him.
He rolled on top of me. I giggled when his cold feet touched mine. He trailed kisses down my neck. His hands lifted my dress up. His fingers grazed my stomach lightly. He pulled the fabric off me, completely. He unhooked my bra. Next, came my panties and finally, his boxers were kicked off.

We cleaned up and were dressed, seconds before Beca and Hunter came through the door. Hunter asked Tyler if he wanted to help with something. They were acting very secretive. Beca sat me down and as soon as they left:
"Tell me everything."
"It was amazing. He was gentle. It was so different from Brad. And I think... I think I love him." I bit my lip and thought.
The playful fights, the tender kisses, the passionate ones. His bad boy exterior, hiding the sweet man inside. "No, I know I love him." And the scary part, I meant it.
"I can tell. You have this gleam in your eyes that can only be explained by love."
"Why are they being so secretive?" I blurted.
"I'm not supposed to tell you. But Tyler has something planned. I just have no clue what it is. Hunter wouldn't tell me." She threw her hands up in defeat.
"It's a good thing I didn't tell you." Hunter and Tyler walked through the door.
"Come with me." Tyler grabbed my hand and we walked to the parking lot.
Waiting for us was a carriage. I let out a laugh, as Tyler opened the door and held out his hand for me. I took it and stepped in. The seats were dark leather. The wood was detailed in flowers. Tyler jumped in across from me.
"Where are we going?" I asked as the horses pulled us along.
"You'll see." He leaned toward me and his breath grazed my neck. "It's a surprise."
When he pulled away, music came through the speaker in the corner. Our song.
I looked at him as he spoke. "I love you, Ali. I think I have for a while. The way you pushed me away at first. The way you bite your lip while you think. The way you try to act tough, but I know it's not just an act. Happy birthday, sweetheart."
The carriage rolled to a stop. We got out, and I looked around. We were at the beach. I watched as Tyler walked to the horses. The three horses, more than needed. He unhooked the beautiful white mare and came to me. Tyler held out his hand, but I didn't need it. I used to ride. I got on behind my boyfriend.
He led the horse toward the water. We rode alongside the beautiful waves. Slowly, he stopped the horse and tied him to a lifeguard stand. He took my hand, and we walked along the sand.
The sun began to set, and I turned to stand in front of Tyler. I put my arms around his neck. "By the way, I love you, too." As the sun set in the background, I kissed him.

"Happy birthday, pumpkin." Zach enveloped me in a hug.
"What? How are you here?" I held on to my criminal brother.
"Your boyfriend paid my bail." Zach released me, knowing I would run to Tyler.
"Exactly how much money do you have? Not that I'm complaining." I hugged him.
"Well, my parents are kind of rich." He murmured against my head.
"I guess I chose the right guy, then." I joked and his chest rumbled. "Thank you so much. I love you."
"I love you, too, sweetheart."

I left out what their song was on purpose. You guys have to wait till one of the last chapters to find out what it is.
They used the L word. I thought they were ready for it. I'm half done with this book anyway. But there's so much more to come.
