Chapter Fourteen:
You know you're tired when you sleep until almost two in the afternoon. Which is what I did. I slept right through my alarm. Six hours ago. I missed my classes that's for sure. I sat up in bed, way too fast.
"Tyler!" I called out, not sure if he was here or not.
"What?" He answered and I walked into the living room.
"Why didn't you wake me up?" I threw my hands up for emphasis.
"Because you looked so adorable sleeping and I just couldn't do it."
"Really?" I didn't believe him."No. I just didn't wanna deal with you yet."
"Excuse me?" I couldn't have heard him right.
"You're excused."
I'm gonna kill him.
"Are you on your fucking period or something?"
"No, sweetheart. You get those, not me."
"Then why are you being such a dick?"
"Because I have to deal with you."
"Fuck you, asshole."
"You did last night."
Crack.
My hand connected with his cheek. I went back to our room and packed a bag of clothes and necessities.
I called Beca. "Hey, Becs, are you home?"
"Not right now, but I will be in like ten minutes. Why?"
"I'm gonna stay with you for a few days."
She knew not to ask questions. "Okay, I'll see you when I get home."
I walked out of the apartment, Tyler followed me. "Where are you going?"
"To Beca's, so you don't have to deal with me." I opened my passenger side door and threw my bag in. I walked around to the driver's side. Tyler stood in front of the door. "Move."
"Now, that's no way to ask."
"I shouldn't have to ask. You shouldn't be out here, in my way. You can go back inside, and I won't bother you."
"Oh, come on. Seriously? You're gonna do this?"
"Do what? You started this. You don't want to deal with me. So to accommodate your wishes, I'm going somewhere that I'm welcome. You can let me go easily or you can start a fight, which will lead to me saying things I'll regret." When he didn't budge, I wanted to scream. "Get out of my way, Tyler."
"No, you can't just leave whenever you want."
"I sure as hell can do just that. You don't own me. I'm not your fucking property. Get out of my way."
"You're so sensitive." He crossed his arms.
"I'm sensitive? You literally told me you don't want to deal with me. So guess what, now I don't want to deal with you. Get away from my truck."
He stepped closer to me. "Make me."
"Get out of my face before you regret it."
He stepped away from me without another word. I got into my car and drove away without a glance back.
*****
"What's for dinner?" Beca called to me from in front of the fridge.
"I don't know. Do you just wanna eat out?"
