Chapter Nineteen:
"Are you ready to go?" Beca banged on Hunter's door. He's been in his room for twenty minutes, supposedly packing.
"I'm coming!" He yelled through the door. A few more knocks and he ripped the door open. "Jesus, I'm coming."
"You can call me Beca." I snickered and Hunter glared at me. I raised my hands in surrender.
"Hey, it's your fault. Not mine." He pushed past us, and we gathered Zach. We headed to Hunter's weird minivan, still having no explanation as to why he had it.
We all piled in with our things. Hunter started the van, and we began our drive to the Georgia Six Flags.
*****
"I don't wanna drive anymore." Hunter whined to Zach.
"Big baby," Zach muttered, as we pulled over so that the boys could switch positions. I stifled my giggle.
Beca had been furiously typing on her phone for most of the drive. "Who are you texting?" She looked at my concerned face and shrugged.
"Nobody."
I knew she was lying, but I didn't call her on it. I would find out sooner or later, and it's not like it had anything to do with Hunter because she would never cheat on him.
I sighed and checked my notifications. Ten messages from Tyler already, and it wasn't even noon. I deliberately ignored them. I started taking pictures of myself. Some had my tongue out, some I was smiling, some I was making a kissy face. They were all different.
Hunter turned around and saw me taking pictures. "Why would you want more reminders of how ugly you are?" He grinned.
"Haha, you're so funny." I stuck my tongue out at him. "I'm pretty sure I am the one that got the good looks from our parents."
That caught Zach's attention. "Don't forget about me. Aren't I dashing?" His choice of words made me burst with laughter.
"No, you look like something from the garbage." Hunter smirked.
"I am more sexy than you, little brother."
"Not a chance. All the ladies go for me." Beca eyed him, and he gulped. "I only have eyes for one, though?" He tried.
That seemed to pacify Beca, but got a reaction from Zach. "Ha, whipped!" He bellowed at the top of his lungs, and Hunter glared at him.
I tried so hard to keep in my laughter, but then Hunter slapped the back of Zach's head, and Zach's reply was to swerve the vehicle so that Hunter bumped his head on the window. And then I couldn't do it anymore. I doubled over with laughter, while Hunter rubbed his head. Zach had a smug look on his face, and Beca was back to her phone.
Something must be really important if she's that interested in her phone. Normally, she doesn't care if it's dead at the bottom of her closet. Maybe I'm exaggerating, but you get the point.
Beca looked up from her phone and caught Hunter's eyes. They exchanged glances that I couldn't decipher. Hm, maybe the texting does have to do with him. What could it be?
*****
My question was answered when we parked next to a very familiar car. It was familiar because it just so happened to belong to the person that I was ignoring. I also hadn't invited this person.
I glared at Beca. She raised her hands in surrender. "I'm sorry, but I think the two of you can work this out better here, than you can at home. Because at home you can just leave, but here you have to wait until everyone else leaves. So it's up to you, talk to him or ignore him. But after this trip, I'm done being the middle person."
I continued to glare at her, but started to feel gulity for putting her into the middle of my fight. That still didn't make her going behind my back okay. I grabbed my suitcase and stalked towards the hotel.
"Let me help you." Tyler rushed up to my side. He reached for my suitcase.
"I don't need your help." I growled and hastened my pace.
"Alison, please," he begged.
I ignored him and kept walking. I sat down in one of the chairs in the lobby. Zach and Hunter dealt wih the check in.
Zach handed me my key card. "Don't blame me, but you have to share a room with Tyler."
I groaned. "This isn't going to work, just so you know." I shot a glare towards Beca and Hunter.
"Well it has to. And you have to deal with it while we're here." Beca's voice matched her face. She was serious.
"Fine." I took the stairs instead of the elevator. I slid the room key into the door. The light flashed green, vand I pushed the door open. My jaw dropped when I saw the rose petals leading to the only bed in the room.
"Do you like it?" Tyler came in behind me. "I thought maybe you and the baby would be more comfortable in a suite instead of a regular room."
"There's only one bed."
"Yeah. I hoped that you could forgive the way I acted, and we could get back to normal."
"Well, I haven't forgiven you. So no, we can't go back to normal. I'll sleep on the couch." I gestured to the other piece of furniture that could be slept on.
"No, no. I don't care if you're just mad or if you don't love me anymore, but I'm taking the couch. I want the two of you to be as comfortable as possible." He claimed the couch.
"I do love you." Tears pricked my eyes. I dropped my suitcase and rushed to the bathroom. I couldn't let him see me cry.
"Alison, are you okay?" His voice was concerned. "Are you still having morning sickness?"
"No, not anymore. I'm fine."
"Are you sure? Do you need anything?"
To be able to forgive you. "No, don't worry about it."
I wiped my face. I can't keep crying. This is supposed to be a fun trip. Crying isn't fun.
I came out of the bathroom to find Tyler gone. I fell onto the bed, and felt something crinkle under my arm. A piece of paper. I read the words.
I'll give you as much space as you want. I went to the lobby, I figured you wanted to be alone. I am truly sorry.
Love TylerI choked on my sobs. This was going to be a very long trip.
