a week soon passed, and jasmine had acknowledged the concern her family showed for her with every day. she knew they were worried, sure, but she didn't want them to have to worry too much. she also knew her wishes for them to not be concerned would just make things worse, so she just decided to go on as if everything was fine with life.

as if she didn't have to worry about all the new possibilities that came with the knowledge of two cullens being potential volturi guard candidates.

jasmine knew all about the volturi. after her parents died, she basically magically stalked them for a couple years, only stopping after she'd settled in with maria, marcus, cecilia and jackson. nowadays, she tried to stop her paranoia from getting to her and start tracking them again, but she did have bad days.

like the day alice cullen approached her for god knows what reason.

because of their involvement with the cullens, jasmine had taken to checking her world map of them at least once a day. her family knew she was doing it, but they couldn't help her unless she either came to them, or it got to a point where they had to step in. it was an unspoken rule in their family, and she appreciated it, but she didn't know how much longer it would go on before any of them decided to step in.

in order to distract herself from all the imposing thoughts, she brought olive out to the clearwater diner at the end of the week. the little girl was excited, having not been out on the reservation before, and jasmine was eager to bring more bright smiles out of her youngest sister. she'd realized she had sort of grown a bit distant with the little girl since moving, so she wanted to rectify that by eating out with her.

"i want a cheeseburger!" olive exclaims, cheerful, but still quiet enough to not disturb the other patrons. jasmine smiles, skimming over her own menu before her eyes land on a familiar term.

fish fry.

"what about you, jazzy?"

"hm? oh, i'm gonna try the fish fry. my friend said that it's amazing, so i've decided to try it out myself," she responds, smiling at the little girl.

"nice choice," the voice of their server, leah, sounds from behind her, and jasmine smiles at the older girl as she comes to a stop in front of their table. olive grins at the young woman, who loses her bitter expression for a few moments to gaze at the little girl fondly. while her guard does come back up, she isn't as biting as when the two had first sat down and she'd taken their order.

"so, the fish fry and a cheeseburger, right? you just want a plain burger, or do you want anything on it?" leah questions, cocking her head at the eight-year-old. olive thinks it over, knowing the usual toppings that places put on burgers, and smiles at leah once again once coming to a decision.

"just plain, please!"

the clearwater girl smiles softly once more, nodding at them both and taking their menus back with her. olive continues drawing on the sheet of paper that leah had given her once coming back with their drinks, and jasmine checks her phone for any texts that needed her attention. unfortunately, there was one.

big bad puppy 👊
