when bella didn't really show up to any of her classes, or even lunch, jasmine allowed herself to get worried. the two of them may not be the best of friends, but jasmine cared about people she interacted with as much as she did bella. as the day went on, she also noticed that the infamous edward cullen was also missing, and that caused her heart to stutter at the realization.

"hey, you good?" hailey murmurs from next to her, and jasmine's breath hitches slightly, being shocked out of her thoughts of despair.

"ah, yeah. yeah, yeah, i'm fine. everything's good. how, um, how bout you? you okay?" the redirection causes her friend to give her a disbelieving look, but hailey goes along with it. she figured it wasn't too much of a big deal if her friend wasn't completely out of it.

"i'm good. oh, so, i was meaning to bring this up the other day, but there's gonna be a party out on the rez this weekend, and i was wondering if you wanted to come with me? you know, make some friends that aren't pale faces."

both girls lightly giggle at the words, and jasmine playfully rolls her eyes. "hey, i'm not just friends with white people. i'm friends with tyler and eric."

"you have a point. anyways, party; you wanna go?"

the asian teen mulls it over, thinking through the pros and cons of going. her mind flashes to a familiar face, confusing her momentarily, but then she shrugs and sends hailey a smile.

"i'll go. what day?"

"friday night. trust me, you won't regret going. i've been to parties held on the rez before, and they are so much more fun than the boring ass parties these people have. seriously, it's just an excuse to hook up over here, meanwhile in la push, the teens actually know how to have fun at a party," hailey rambles, a fond smile on her face as she talks through a lot of the things the quilete's would do at the parties. while jasmine wasn't hanging off every word, she did smile and listen to her friend ramble, trying to get a feel for how the party would go that weekend.

she would just need to convince her parents to actually let her go.

"no."

"but, marcus-"

"i said no, jasmine. it's one thing to get blackout drunk with teenagers back home, but here? when you get drunk, you use magic a lot more inconspicuously than normal, and we don't need you exposing the family to these people," marcus says firmly, crossing his arms and staring his adoptive daughter down as she pleaded with him.

"we have no idea what would happen if they found out about you, or the rest of us. i, i mean, your sister is a fairy for gods sake! your brother is a vampire! and you and i are witches! you know what used to happen to witches, they'd get bur-"

"burned at the stake, yes, i know. but that hasn't happened for a couple centuries, marcus, and you know i'm always careful around humans that aren't in the know!"

"not when you're drunk, jasmine. you're jeopardizing yourself, and being selfish thinking that nothing will go wrong if you just let lose. you could do that at home, but not here. this is a small town, and word gets around fast. you don't know these people enough to trust they won't rat you out or anything like that, so my final answer is no," the man finalizes, a look in his eye causing jasmine's face to crumple slightly before she reigns her expression in. marcus felt his heart almost break at the sight of her putting her walls up, but he remained firm in his decision.
