9 || The Calm Before the Storm

One month later

Naruto Uzumaki

Another day, another mission done. I have to say it really wasn't that bad doing missions alone. Of course it was easier when I did them with Sasuke and we were able to kill at least 20 demons a night together, but at the same time I can still get at least 10 demons alone every mission.

Right now, I was heading back to HQ after doing a mission that was pretty far away and I had to stay in a family's house with the wisteria crest that was close by. I was just about to push the gate open when it was suddenly opened by a person from inside. It was Kyojuro Rengoku.

"Ah, Uzumaki! Back from a mission?" He started the conversation.

"Yup! And please, Naruto is fine." I decided to add. People are way too polite with me sometimes.

"Alright! I'm heading to a mission right now. Supposedly one of the Twelve Demon Moons will be there, which is why I, a Pillar, has been sent."

"Oh? Well, be careful then." I calmly said. Although deep down I was a bit worried that it might be an Upper Moon. I was told that Upper Moons have the strength of multiple Pillars, so I was quite afraid.

"To be honest, I would love if you could join me on this mission. I haven't seen you fight yet and am quite interested in your fighting style. Ahahaha!" He said while walking away.

'I'll be there when I'm needed.' I mentally said while walking inside.

As I walked in, I immediately headed straight into the Butterfly Estate. I really needed something to eat since I hadn't had a meal for about 24 hours. Back in the wisteria house I was so beat that I just went straight to sleep.

I walked passed my room and went straight to the cafeteria. There, I was greeted by the three girls again.

"Ah! Naruto, good morning!" They said in unison.

"Morning, you three. Can I hav-" I was suddenly cut off.

"One miso ramen with extra pork and naruto fishcake coming up!" They said together while holding their thumbs up.

"Ahahaha! You know it!"

And off they went to creating my favorite ramen. Granted, it wasn't as good as in Ichiraku, but it was still very good. I just smiled at them as they went away and took a seat, when a familiar face greeted me.

"You're back, Naruto."

"Sasuke." I said while turning my head around. He then took the seat in front of me.

"Far-away mission? You didn't come back yesterday."

"Yeah. What about you?" I asked back.

"Basically the same, although all the missions I've gone to haven't been far away so I can come back here at the same night."

"That's nice."

"Naruto! Miso ramen with extra pork and naruto fishcake!" A very high-pitched voice called. It was Kiyo, with Naho holding up the bowl and Sumi on the right with them.

"Ah! Thank you very much!"

"Good morning, Sasuke! Do you want something, too?" Sumi then asked.

"Ah, it's okay. I'm not too hungry." Sasuke admitted.

"Oh? We do have onigiris, though." Sasuke's face suddenly turned into an expression of consideration and full of thoughts.

"..... Okay I'll have that, please."

"Yay!" The three girls joyfully yelled as they walked back to where they were just in.

"Such a simple man, onigiri as a favorite food." I said before digging into my ramen. It was as good as always.
