Y/N wakes up with the feeling of soreness in her muscles. She leans against the headboard with a slight moan escapes from her mouth. It hurts so bad. "I just woke up from death to find you sitting in front of me." Haitani Ran gets up from his seat and stands tall in front of him. "Your face looks like you just became a punching bag." Y/N grits her teeth as she slams the pillow on his chest. "I suggest you walk out of here because I have no mood in fighting with you."

"My mother sent an invitation letter. To the family dinner." Y/N's lips curl. Is he kiddi— "Yet I rejected. Because of your condition now. Don't wanna pop up at the dinner table with your bruised face, hm? So Mother decided to postpone it." Y/N picks up the pillow that she threw earlier and is now hugging it. "You're just making fun of my face."

"How are you feeling?" He finally puts aside the jokes.

"Like a punching bag." Y/N tries to touch her face but Ran slaps her hand away. "The doctor said you'll be needing weeks of treatment until your wounds and bruises disappear. He suggests that you rest more and don't put too much pressure on doing work." Y/N nods to whatever things he says. "Can I ask you something?" She plays with the material of the cold blanket.

"Did you kiss my forehead last night?"

She doesn't know what kind of expression Ran is showing, because she's looking down. "I-I felt something soft on forehead las—"

"You must be dreaming things. That's why the doctor wants you to rest more so that you could stop hallucinating."

Oh. Really?
B̶u̶t̶I̶w̶i̶s̶h̶i̶t̶w̶a̶s̶t̶r̶u̶e̶. Nah, I must be flattering myself.

"Those guys last night. They've planned it a long time ago to sneak into your room. They hid in your closet for days. How could it take a long time for you to notice?" He clicks his tongue in annoyance, taking a sip of water. "Don't you think that water should be given to me? I'm an ill person." Ran chuckles as he places the glass next to her.

"Your face is bruised, not your legs." Y/N's jaw drops down as her eyes grow wide. "You—!" She slams her hand on the pillow, grabbing it hard, ready to slap his face with it. By the time the white pillow's about to touch his face, Y/N is proud of herself. Until Ran grabs her arm, twisting it a little that makes Y/N's grip on the pillow get weaker.

"You—You are abusing an injured person!"

"And you're about to make me an injured person too." He removes the pillow from her hand and tosses it to the ground. "If you want to have a pillow fight, I prefer it to be in my bedroom." Y/N's eyes squint a little, trying to solve the riddle behind his sentence. And her eyes shot wide. She absolutely understands well what he talked about. She looks away from him. "You asked me how I did not notice them hiding in my room. Let me ask you back, how did you not notice that those guys were here when this place is yours?"

Ran looks down on her. "This place is mine but this bedroom isn't mine." He glares at her, crossing his thighs together. "Where did you sleep last night?" Y/N tries to change the topic, as she holds the same glass that Ran used. "Here. And give that glass back." Y/N ignores him as she takes a sip of water from the glass. She hears Ran's low gasp. He gasps. Haitani Ran gasps. He looks slightly surprised but Ran tilts his head to the left to hide his expression.

"So you were the creep who watched me sleeping." Ran chuckles out in his husky voice as he stands up. "I've never met a confident woman like you before. I'd rather spend my time cleaning my baton than watching a dumbhead like you sleep." Ran's lips twitching as he reaches for the door knob.
