Maya's P.O.V
Youngro-yaaa...
A soft masculine voice awakened me from my deep slumber while I was sleeping in the library. I looked around to check if there were other students near me, but I was the only one in the area. My favorite place in the main library was entirely concealed from the other tables. I requested the librarian-in-charge to keep this setup, and since I am a regular here, they let me have my own private space in the library.
I fell asleep again.
I hadn't had a good night's sleep last night because of that exchange student thing. I am now regretting why the heck I accepted it. It was very bothersome, especially now that I'm working on the last part of my thesis study.
Remembering that voice again, I feel like I heard him long ago. There was something inside me that awakened when I heard his voice again.
Hope?
Longing?
Or regret?
Whatever it is, it's not healthy for my heart.
"I don't even know if he exists."
Upon saying that, I felt my phone vibrate. It was a call from one of my best friends, Hera.
"Mayayaya! Where the hell are you? Don't tell me you're in the library again?"
Hearing her say my name like that, I already knew she was pissed.
"Hi babe, I'm fine. Thank you, and you?"
I added fuel to the fire, and soon enough, she started shouting again, complaining that I didn't have time to spend with them and that I always went out on my own.
Oh, my ever-so-dramatic friend.
"Hera-ssi, relax. Okay? I'm coming over."
I just said that to keep her quiet.
"Liar. You don't even know where we are."
I giggled when I sensed some bitterness in her words.
"I have my ways. See you later."
I ended the call before she could say something. After logging out and returning the books I had borrowed, I immediately checked the tracker app on my phone and found out that the girls were just in the pavilion.
They were not aware that I installed a tracking app on their phones just to find them. The reason for this is that their phones keep on getting lost for some unknown reason, and to avoid it from happening for the fifth time, I installed this app to locate them.
Hera, Hyori, Minnie, and I have been best friends since I started my college life here at Korean National University. Even though our family owned one of the prestigious universities in Korea, I decided to take my college education at a different school to avoid headaches.
I just want to live a normal life as a student, but it seems like my dad has no plan to keep it that way.
When I arrived at the cafeteria, I immediately spotted the three musketeers who were busy drinking their milk teas like it was their lifeline.
"Maya!" I smiled when Hyori found me and waved her hands at me cutely.
"We have good news for you, girl. We were invited to be exchange students too!" she immediately added as soon as I took my seat.
"What the--"
"Ep ep ep! Before you react, we just found it in our lockers. It's weird though because I don't remember applying for this. Yeah, it's a good opportunity too, so I grabbed it."
