Chapter 31 - That's all we need [Final]

Ze's perspective

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Steven, happy birthday to you!"

The crowd of friends gathered around me ended their little chant, big grins stuck to their faces as they watched me lean down and blow out all of the 21 candles in one go. Loud cheering greeted me as I lifted my head up again. My wish would stay a secret for now. I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned to see my most loved friend of them all - my boyfriend Anthony. He was smiling at me, his face read pride and overall happiness. Over a year had passed since we made our relationship official. He had made our anniversary into a really special day, from breakfast in bed leading up to a fancy restaurant visit in the evening. I liked remembering that day, it had been something incredibly amazing.

"Happy birthday again, babe", he whispered into my ear and then turned my face towards him to place a soft kiss on my lips before he took my hands in his, "I'll give you your present when everyone's gone, for now just enjoy yourself, alright?"

I nodded and before he could leave again, I pulled him even closer and pressed my lips against his for a longer and more passionate kiss. "Thanks, Anthy", I murmured after parting with him, "I already can't wait for tonight".

He smiled and winked at me before heading back into the kitchen. I turned back to my friends, every person I had invited had shown up. Smarty had come together with Galm, the two of them had also been together ever since their first hookup, and while Chilled and I enjoyed our fair share of privacy, those two had the loosest lips you could possibly have, much to our displeasure sometimes. Then there was Oliver, who both Chilled and I were still good friends with. He had helped Chilled catch up on school stuff while he was in physiotherapy because of his shoulder. And he loved science almost as much as I did, meaning we had a lot of fun stuff to talk about. Amber and Alex were also invited, their relationship was a bit more complicated than others, considering they had been on and off for a long time now. Somehow they couldn't quite manage staying together as little as they could manage staying away from eachother. It wasn't exactly a relationship I'd want to have myself, they seemed to have commitment issues, and to others they seemed to be friends with benefits more than girlfriends. But that was up to them to figure out and decide. And because there couldn't be enough gay couples, Krism and Minx were there as well. They had taken their time to let their relationship blossom, but were about as madly in love as Chilled and I were. Krism had moved in with Minx, as friends at first, but then they had confessed eachother their love after a while, which was pretty much the beginning point of their innocent little relationship. Next to all these guys we had also invited over Anthony's sister Kate and his mother as well as my own mother. The two moms were sitting next to eachother on the couch, happily exchanging stories of their sons' childhoods while Kate was close by, listening in with a smirk on her face.

"Hey Ze!", Krism's voice made me turn my gaze away from the three woman, "Now that you're 21 you can officially have your first legal sip of alcohol".

I grinned at the short girl and watched her pour me a drink. "Bring it on", I called out and Anthony came rushing back from the kitchen.

"I can't miss this beautiful moment", he chuckled, "My little baby is all grown up now".

He stood behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist as I rolled my eyes and took my drink from Krism. I waited until everyone else had something in their hands as well and then lifted my glass up in the air.

"To Ze's first legal drinking", Anthony raised his voice, "Though we all know he's has plenty before".

A warm chuckle rolled through our group of friends and I gave my mother an apologizing look as she shook her head with a smirk on her face.
