Chapter 14

Megan looked around to find the signs that would lead her to the train stop she had gotten a ticket to. Paris was a whirlwind and it was definitely more than she expected. She just didn't know if it was all worth it. Her phone vibrated so she took it out of her bag to check who was calling her again. It read "13 missed calls" from Trevor. The phone kept vibrating as Megan held it in her hands not knowing if she should answer or not. The train made an alerting noise and the words lit up giving out the last call for anyone who has a ticket. Megan finally picked up her phone after the 3rd ring and Trevor's voice filled her ears.

"Megan are you okay?" asked Trevor from the speaker.

"I could be better. Why'd you call?" Megan replied staying in her spot.

"I wanted to know if you were doing alright. Look straight ahead," Trevor stated.

Megan looked up from the ground and looked straight ahead resting her eyes on Trevor's body with the phone in his hands. She could not believe he actually came all the way to the train station to find her knowing that she could probably be gone. She ended the call and began to make her way towards Trevor trying to avoid the busy people that stood in between them.

"I didn't know where you would end up going after you left me at the restaurant. Were you really gonna leave me?" Trevor asked with glossy eyes.

"I went to Sam's house and found out a lot about other things but you probably don't want to listen to me anyway," Megan said trying not to give in to Trevor's ways.

"Are you serious? Of course I want to listen to you. I'm just glad you're safe and agreed to further continue this trip," Trevor said looking straight into Megan's hazel eyes.

"You're lucky it's a long train ride," Megan said flipping her hair and going into the train's door.

Next stop, Cannes.

_____

Cannes. A city in France filled with glitzy hotels, gorgeous beaches, the famous Croisette resting near the water, terrace cafés and the place where Megan's art piece was. Megan almost forgot why she had come to Cannes in the first place until she saw the beauty of the city and its amazing art. Even the billboards were decorated beautifully. Nothing like it compared to the flashy billboards in New York.

Megan and Trevor had finally come out of the train station after a 3 hour ride from Paris. It was fairly calm most of the time since none of them were really bitter of the past events. Megan explained exactly what Sam had told her after Trevor finally convinced her that he was trustworthy. The only thing she kept to herself was the fact that her uncle had been diagnosed with a sickness that needed immediate treatment. Megan felt like some things she should just keep to herself. It wasn't his concern in the first place. So they took a quick cab ride to a friend they were staying at and began to start look at the letters together.

"Are you sure you know these people?" Trevor asked Megan looking around the room.

"Well Sam does and he says that they were friends with my aunt when she came here so I don't think there's anything sketchy. I mean I met up with you, a stranger, who I didn't know," Megan said continuing to scan the letter up and down. "Okay c'mon I know where we're gonna go!"

"We can practically walk there," Trevor said after Megan had handed him the letter.

Megan and Trevor exited the hotel and were walking towards what looked like an abandoned boat that was resting near one of the wooden docks. Its blue paint had faded, probably from the weather, and the boat itself looked like it was gonna destruct if they went into it. As Megan looked to check if they were at the right place, Trevor surveyed the area. After two knocks at the door Megan was in the presence of an old man that looked far older than her aunt described in her letter. He had grey hair, a short statuesque, a toothy smile, and warm eyes.
