Chapter 24
"I can't believe you did that Megan. Seriously why did you throw a tantrum in the middle of the meeting. I thought we agreed on this," Trevor said as he speedily walked out of the business office. "I can't believe it's raining too. Nothing is going right today."
"I just felt that our relationship feels less real when we talk about that kind of thing now that I know what I'm going to use the money for. I won't even have enough to pay for the surgery," Megan stated walking right behind Trevor.
"I understand what situation you're in right now but I just thought this was part of the plan. We agreed on everything. If you didn't like it then you should have told me how you felt so situations like these could be avoided," Trevor explained to Megan stopping his tracks and looking at Megan again.
"The contract was before everything. If you really liked me then you should have just not even mentioned it during the meeting. It makes me uncomfortable knowing that our relationship was based on something so insignificant like the money. I hate it. I hate you," Megan said storming off hoping into a cab as more drops of rain fell on her.
"Megan wait. I think we should really--" Trevor shouted running after Megan into the rain. He couldn't stop her from running straight into a cab leaving him alone in the middle of the streets. The only thing left to do was to soak in his sorrow and try to look for Megan later on.
___
Megan quickly paid the taxi driver and started to unlock the door to her uncle's house. Sam had given a copy to her before she left, just in case she needed anything when he was gone. It was finally going to be useful because in this case she needed to get away from Trevor. Her hair was wet and so were her clothes when she came dripping inside the house only to find Harry the cat sitting on the couch. Megan called out with her voice cracking since she had been crying since she got into cab. No one was in the house which was what Megan hoped. Now she could be alone by herself and cry some more. After changing into a spare set of clothes in her aunt's room she looked in the freezer to find a tub of cookies and cream ice cream. It made things a little better knowing she could sit on the couch and eat. Megan calmed down after 2 seasons of Skins, her new favorite British t.v show and even though her mascara was running everything else seemed fine. As she contemplated on who her favorite character was she also thought about how the whole situation was blown out of proportion and that she should just say sorry to Trevor after he does first. Even though she knew it was a little bit of her fault she was still pretty stubborn when it came to this stuff and not in a million years would she apologize for that little thing. Trevor would have to make the first move.
___
"Listen man, I don't think she wants you here. From the looks of it, she looked like she had been crying before she came here and my whole tub of cookies and cream ice cream is gone. So now I am upset. Sorry, you should just come in the morning when you're calmed down. Plus she's sleeping," Sam explained to Trevor who was waiting near the door insisting he needed to talk to Megan right away.
"I've been trying to reach her cell all day after the argument. I admit I might have contributed to it as well but I just want to know if she's okay. I don't even need to talk at all, I promise. I just need a good look at her to know if she's okay," Trevor replied.
Sam let him inside the house, only in the living room where Megan was sleeping. Trevor sneaked a peak and put the throw blanket on her so she could keep warm. He then left right after he took a few moments to just look at her in peace. He didn't want to wake her up.
"Is he gone?" Megan asked Sam as she slowly got up from the couch.
"Yup, you can get up now," Sam responded never stopping chopping the tomatoes.
"Phew, that's good. I don't really want to talk to him at this hour. I'm kinda not looking my best right now, physique wise. So watcha making?" Megan asked peering over to see what Sam was making in the kitchen.
"My famous tomato soup. It'll be ready soon. If you want to eat then I can chop seconds," Sam said holding the tomato in his hand and looking at Megan.
Megan enjoyed her tomato soup with Sam as they chatted through the night.
