Lazer the Cypherite

Grape is dead, and All Might is captured by the Agents. This day has been terrible this far.

A manhole cover cracks open. Two eyes peek out just as a truck rattles over it. The thunder dopplers away and the cover opens. Uravity climbs out. Mic is again at the monitors, searching the Matrix when the phone rings.

"Operator."

"I need an exit! Fast!"

"Lazer?"

Lazer is standing at a public phone. Across the street is the burning paddy wagon that appears to have collided with an oncoming car.

"There was an accident. A goddamn car accident. All of a sudden. Boom. Thank Keanu, someone up there still likes me." Lazer lies to save his ass.

"I got you."

"Just get me outta here."

"Nearest exit is Akihabara. An old TV repair shop."

Lazer hangs up and smiles as we hear fire trucks in the distance.

"An actor. Definitely."

The phone rings. Mic answers.

"Mic, it's me."

All four are moving quickly down a back street.

"Is All Might alive?"

"Is All Might still alive, Mic?"

"Yes. They're moving him. I don't know where yet."

"He's alive."

Again, inevitability seems to cinch around Deku.

"We need an exit!"

"You're not far from Lazer."

"Lazer, I thought he wa-"

"So did we. I sent him to Akihabara."

"Got it."

"This is Cypher all over for me." Neo said to Deku.

In a deserted alley, Lazer steps onto a dumpster in front of a small boarded-up window. Dead machines, eviscerated and shrouded with dust, lay on metal shelves like bodies in a morgue. Plywood covering a small window is ripped off and Lazer crawls inside. Deep in the back room, a phone that has not rung in years begins to ring. Uravity sees the TV repair shop. Mic punches the exit command.

"Got him."

Lazar's body twitches in its harness, jerking itself awake.

Deku crawls through the window that Lazer opened. Mic finishes loading the exit program as Lazer pulls back a heavy blanket, exposing a high-tech rifle. The phone begins to ring as the others crawl in.

"God, I love that sound."

Suddenly, a white bolt of lightning explodes against Mic's chair, blasting him into the air. Lazer checks the gun, unable to believe he missed.

"Shit."

Mic is on his feet, lunging when Lazer fires again, square into his chest.

"No!" Ingenium notices the mutiny caused by Lazar.

The phone is still ringing.

"You first, Deku."

Deku answers the phone when there is a click. There is no signal. Nothing but silence.

"What happened?"

"I don't know. It just went dead."

Uravity listens to the dead line and takes out her Smartphone.
