A hundred years before the modern time...

"Lea, always remember that if it's not meant to be, then it's not meant to be. If you force your way into that love that wasn't supposed to be, you'll end up suffering. You'll end up broken and it will be difficult to try and pick yourself up again."

Lea's grandmother is wise and there were rumors that the old lady was gifted with clairvoyance.

As a young girl, she loved her grandmother's stories. Everytime she listens to them, she felt like she was smarter than yesterday.

It was just so sudden when her grandmother turned out to be sick and her days were limited.

On her grandmother's deathbed, she was silently praying and hoping that she could still spend more time with her grandmother. That maybe this was all just a nightmare and that she would see her grandmother again for the following years.

Her grandmother smiled at her before saying, "You are very beautiful, my lovely child. Don't ever let others take away your good nature. And remember the things I taught you."

That was their last conversation before her grandmother was too weak to speak. Unfortunately, passed away a week later.

Had she accepted the possibility of losing her grandmother, would she have been less hurt right now?

Walking on her way back, someone tapped her shoulder. She looked at the person.

"Hey. Wanna hear me sing?" Taehyung asked.

The young man and Lea were friends ever since they were babies since they live in the same village. Taehyung was one of the kids who would listen to her grandmother's stories.

They used to play outdoors a lot when they were younger. They weren't very close but the comfortable familiarity was there.

Taehyung was also a good singer and there are some gatherings where Taehyung would sing for everyone. They all loved his voice.

Lea nodded at Taehyung and they started walking towards a rock near a pig poultry that a neighbor owns. They sat down and Lea let out a sigh before waiting for Taehyung.

With that, Taehyung started singing. It was already quiet so his voice was the only sound she could hear. Even the animals are charmed by Taehyung's voice. It was soothing. It made her emotional.

She started crying silently. Losing her grandmother was definitely one of the many things she wasn't ready for. She has depended on her grandmother and right now, she's realizing things.

Is this part of growing up? Losing someone you love?

As Taehyung ended his song, he embraced Lea in his arms. Lea hugged back, finding peace in their position. It was warm and Lea felt like a burden was lifted off her shoulders.

"Thank you," she whispered to him.

"Anytime."

And he did sing for her anytime Lea felt so lost and confused. Or when she feels sad and needs some comforting.

Spending time with Taehyung also made her realize that she sings well, too. So there were times when they'd sing together.

Or times when it was Lea who's comforting Taehyung.

"You really love that song, don't you?" Taehyung asked with his head on Lea's thighs one afternoon when they decided to spend the day together.

Lea hummed, as if saying "yes."

"You've been singing that a lot. Not that I'm complaining. It's starting to be my favourite, too."

Lea smiled at this, "Why don't we sing together, then?"
