A Little Bit Yours

Chapter XII - The Wedding

Last night we arrived very late from the rehearsal dinner and that sort of totals up to the massive hangover that I have right now. I managed to successfully avoid any conversations with my mother which is a positive, but the negative side of things is that I also didn't have the chance to talk to Ella again. She did look over to me a couple of times and we exchanged polite smiles which didn't please Hunter too much. Well, fuck that guy, maybe he gets food poisoning and cannot attend the wedding today. That would actually be nice Jack, thank you for the happy thoughts.

I slowly sit up in my bed and move my hand to my forehead. "Hungover much, little bro?" Sam walks in the room holding a pill and a glass of water, I take it and silently thank him for the pill. "You need to start getting ready, trust me, you don't want to have a very upset Caroline yelling at you for being late while you have a headache."

"Jeez, what a wonderful trailer of the life you have ahead." I laugh softly and get up from bed. "Josh, I wanted to apologize again for not telling you about mom possibly coming to the wedding.."

"I really don't want to talk about it, Samuel. I am doing the best I can to respect your decision but I really don't want to be involved in it." I sigh and start preparing my suit and underwear so I can put them on after I shower. "I understand that you want your mother to be at your wedding but she's done much more to hurt us than she did to make us happy."

"It's really not like that, Josh. I know that she did very bad things and how much she hurt the family but she was hurting too. I'm not making excuses for a cheater, I'm just stating the facts. You should consider sitting down with her and having a conversation about everything that happened just like I did." Samuel tries to make his point and it almost works as I do consider doing it for a minute but I can't allow myself to go through that. "I won't discuss this any further, specially not today but I needed to get that off my chest. Please try to make sure there are no other arguments today, this day is really important to me and Caroline."

I nod and briefly hug my brother before making my way inside the bathroom. As I am about to turn on the shower, Sam calls out for me and I peak my head out the door. "What happened yesterday between you and Ella? Cause you made it very clear that you were serenading her after she went outside to talk to you."

"Nothing happened, well, I might have drunkenly tried to make a move on her, but other than that we just basically talked about what happened."

"Did you get closure at last?" I laugh and shake my head. "I don't think one thousand conversations would ever give me closure about her." 

Sam nods and finally gets out of my room allowing me to step in the shower. I try my best to not take ages because I really don't want a furious Caroline nagging me, also because of the spectacle I caused yesterday. After drying myself off, I fix my hair and trim my beard. I exit the bathroom and put on my suit pants and my white button down shirt. I put on a black tie and my suit jacket, taking a look in the mirror. You almost look handsome, Joshy, just almost. Thank you so much for your almost compliment, Jack.

Downstairs I find my dad with a similar outfit to mine, following Caroline's rules. Amanda has a light blue dress on, Samuel has an amazing suit with a white flower in his jacket pocket and a bow tie instead of a regular tie. He looks extremely handsome and I almost shed a tear at how proud I am of him. We hear a knock at the door and I let them know that I will open it.

I open the door to find Harry on the other side, also with a black suit and tie. "Hey mate, you clean up nicely, very fancy." I say laughing as he gives me a quick hug.

"You don't look that bad yourself, lad. Thank you once more for inviting me." We walk inside and Harry says hello to everyone and politely compliments Amanda's dress as the gentleman that he is.
