We landed on the bridge to the palace and scared a few of the people on it. They clearly were not expecting us. But quickly went back to their own business.
"What the hell is that?" Thor asked.
I turned to look where he was looking and straight ahead of us was a rather large statue of my best friend. My guardian, my Loki in all his glory with his favorite helmet atop his head with the horns.
"Oh, I have the strangest feeling why Odin didn't want us to visit him. Shall we perhaps pay him a visit now, Thor?" I said through gritted teeth.
"Lead the way, my heart." Thor smirked. Seeing the seething rage glide off me in waves.
How dare he pretend to die on me. Cut our connection temporarily to make me think he was really gone just so he could play King of Asgard? I scoffed to myself and we walked through the crowd. People around us were crying as they watched on to some play that had been put on by actors playing Odin, Thor, Loki and even myself. It was about our lives and some manner of how Loki 'died'. It was just ending as we walked up.
"And so Loki died of his wounds, giving his life for ours. He fought the dark forces that threatened us, and brought peace to the realm." The Odin actor said and gestured to a little boy that was painted blue. "Loki, my boy. T'was many moons ago I found you on that frost-bitten battlefield. On that day, I did not yet see in you Asgard's savior. No. You were merely a little blue baby icicle... That melted this old fool's heart."
The crowd erupted into cheers and Odin himself stood up cheering and clapping proudly. If I wasn't so angry I probably could have laughed at what Loki had done. Of course, he was giving himself praise.
"Bravo! Bravo! Well done! Bravo!" Odin said.
"You want to deal with him or shall I?" Thor said with an angry sneer.
"Oh, let's gang up on him together." I winked at him.
Just to be sure I used my power and my eyes glowed. I knew they were glowing, but no one else did as I had learned to hide my power from the seeing eyes. As I suspected Loki was using an illusion cast upon himself to be Odin. I nodded at Thor and we walked forward.
"Allfather." I bowed in respect, placing my closed fist above my heart.
"Father." Thor bowed his head.
"Oh shit..." Odin said quietly as he was about to take a sip of his drink. "Uh, my son, Thor, and Lady Amara have returned!" Odin introduced us and the crowd clapped for our arrival. We both smirked and nodded at the people as we walked by. "Greetings, my boy and my future daughter in law."
Just give it away Loki why don't you. Odin has never given us his blessing. I shook my head at my thoughts as we moved closer.
"That was a very interesting play. Your majesty." I raised my eyebrow at him. "What would it be called?"
"The tragedy of Loki of Asgard. The people wanted to commemorate him." Odin explained, giving me a knowing look.
He knew well enough I knew his secret. It was like he was begging me not to tell Thor. Though, I didn't even need to tell him anything. Thor's not stupid.
"Indeed they should." Thor nodded. "I like that statue. A lot better looking than he was when he was alive, though. A little less weaselly. Less greasy, maybe. Wouldn't you agree, my heart?" Thor asked clearly provoking him.
"I dare say I agree, my King." I smirked and Odin's face soured.
"Do you know what this is?" Thor asked as he took of the crown from his body, holding it out for him to see.
