BEFORE
It was the start of your first semester in college. The start of freshmen year always brings many emotions. A rollercoaster one.
Saying that you're nervous about this new journey is an understatement. It's normal and common tho. You are wondering how will your college life will turn, what would be your study routine, how will you like your professors, and silently praying to have someone befriend you.
The feeling of uncertainty is inescapable. Anyone who moves into an unfamiliar place or brand new place will have this moment. But as people say, it's ok. Take college as a great time to figure out your future.
Above all this, you're excited.
You parted ways with your friends from high school that went to the same university as you. Looking at the map they gave during the orientation, you stride towards the direction of the economic building. There is a bulletin board as you enter that tells you the room numbers.
Trailing your finger trying to find your section, you felt a presence standing beside you. You straightened your back as you found your room.
Third floor, left-wing, last room. You memorized.
You were about to walk away when you finally take a look at the presence beside you. It was a guy. He was wearing specs, baggy clothes, and a backpack. Squinting his eyes, it is easy to tell he is struggling t look for his room. You realized that he is your classmate when you peered at his printed schedule.
Tapping his shoulder with a friendly smile, "Hey, do you want to tag along?"
You suddenly felt guilty when he almost fell. He must shock when a stranger approaches him. I mean, who wouldn't get weirded out?
"Sorry sorry. I didn't mean to scare you. I noticed that you're having difficulty finding your room. I'm not stalking you, ok? I took a pecked at your schedule but I'm not trying to violate your privacy. I just want to help you, understand? So yeah, we're classmates."
It didn't register on your mind that you rambled too much to someone you just met when the guy step back. Awkward.
You cleared your throat and extend your hands, hoping to fix your ruined image on the first day of class. "I'm Y/N. Business Administration student. We are classmates."
The guy was hesitant to accept it but he still did it in the end. "I'm Chan."
"Hello, Chan!" You replied. "Hey, you didn't answer my question earlier. Do you want to tag along?"
Chan pondered for a while before grinning. "Alright."

"Why do we need to understand ourselves?" you ranted as you and Chan made your way to the cafeteria.
