Chapter 9

Leo’s POV

I touched her hand and my body tingled from electric shock.  My wolf howled and I fought for control. I looked at Josey her skin was glowing. She looked up at me and what I saw nearly released my wolf.  Her eyes once a brilliant green are now ice blue, and the gold sparks are now shimmering. She gasps then releases my hand, and immediately the sparks die leaving me gold. I close my eyes and take a calming breath. I open my eyes just in time to see Josey bolt for the door.

“Damn! Josey we need to talk.” I yelled while jogging after her.

I mentally slap my wolf for trying to link with her so soon. Once we link I would be able to sense her emotions and even locate her if necessary. I can link with anyone it is one of the perks to being what I am. All I need is to have physical contact and a few seconds and the link would have been complete. A few seconds that would have been all it would have took to complete the link. Seeing as I fought my wolf for control by the time she took her hand away the link hadn’t completed. I can sense her presence but that is the extent of what I can feel. The farther she gets away the weaker the link is. I got outside into the parking lot just in time to see reach a car that was parked near the entrance to the school. She opened the car door at the precise moment the wind picked up blowing the sickening scent of rust and decay to my nostrils. I inhaled deeply through my mouth and the metallic taste hit my tongue, making me inadvertently growl.

“Vampyer.” I mumbled under my breath

I went alert scanning the direction of where the scent was coming from. I narrowed my eyes in Josey’s direction just in time to see her slide into the car and close the door. My vision slid to the driver and the first thought I got was jealousy. The way he was smiling and leaning into her made me see green, but when his eyes adjusted and met my gaze I immediately saw red as anger washed over me. He smirked at me as they pulled away and I felt myself growl. Tomorrow I get answers, whether Josey wants to give them or not.

Liam’s POV

When I saw her running for the car my mind wondered to the kiss. The kiss she and I shared that had etched itself in to my mind. A kiss that sent heat through my cold body and softened me with the touch of her lips. The kiss that left me confused, and with more questions than answers. A kiss that I wouldn’t dream of forgetting.  I was smiling when she looked at me, and her eyes caught me off guard. They were startling ice blue, which made me frown in concentration. I had seen those eyes before but where?  She looked out the window and I followed her gaze. There just at the schools entrance was a boy, staring at Josey and instantly I felt jealous. Then I saw he was snarling at me because I was with her and he wasn’t. I immediately smug at this realization but then disgusted at myself. I was disgusted at the fact that I was feeling this way about simple humans. I shook my head as I drove away trying to rid myself of the feelings of these humans.

Josey was taking deep breaths as if trying to calm herself. Her scent was feeling the small compartment of the car, making my tongue go dry with thirst. I inhaled deeply to fight the urge, which was a bad idea. Her scent harassed my senses, filling me with unique goodness.  I was in a silent battle with myself, when Josey lent over with her arm stretched in front of my face. My eyes were following the pulse in her wrist, when I heard her talking.

“Turn here and follow the road to the warehouse at the end of the street.” She said in a soft whisper, her breath blowing across my face.

I turned where she pointed not really concentrating. My eyes were own her retracting wrist. I licked my dry lips and tasted the air, closing my eyes and savoring it.  She touched my hand drawing me out of my bliss. I looked over to her seeing her smiling at me while leaning against the window in a casual way. She was completely unaware of the battle going on with in me.
