The dream….

Everything is fuzzy and shrouded in mist. The moon is smiling just like the Cheshire cat. A cool breeze rolls the fog lazily on the ground. I inhale slowly the air is dense with humidity. I feel so small compared to the giant trees beside me. Everything is at peace tonight, not even an owl’s hoot breaks the peaceful silence around me. I look up in to the canopy of the trees and again I am reminded how small I am.   A cool wind blows sending a shiver up my spine.

The hairs on the back of my neck stand up just as the thunder strikes a warning of the approaching storm. The peaceful silence has suddenly turned eerie. My beautiful giant trees now seem to loom over me swaying harshly with the wind. The urge to leave the forest was so great that I started running with out direction. I ran and ran until I collapsed in a small clearing. Looking up I see the moon shrouded in clouds. The snap of a twig in front of me had me staring in to the darkness. I strained to see what had made the sound. The snap of another twig had me backing up.

Lightening streaked the sky lighting up my surroundings. That is when I saw it and at first I was terrified. I went to run when a warning growl broke the eerie silence. I stood stock still afraid sudden movements might set it off. I looked back at it and its ice blue eyes looked as if they could see into my very soul.  I took several calming breaths and it seemed the more I calmed the less the storm raged on. The wind seemed to ease and the thunder ceased to roll. The charged lightening seemed to lose all its volts. The moon high in the sky brightened the area the way a lamp would lighten a room. All that was heard was a low growl coming from the direction of the forest. I went to my knees and kneeled for the beast. The growling stopped as if it was warning me that I needed to submit. Slowly but surely the beast emerged from the forest. The moonlight made its thick white fur glow.  It stood so tall over my kneeling frame. I had to lean back to look at it. It brought its massive head down to meet mine and nudged me with its cold wet nose. The force of the impact sent me sprawling on the wet ground.  I lay on my back between its huge paws. It laid its head on my chest and looked me in the eye. I slowly brought my hands up and ran them through the soft fur surrounding its face. When I reached the spot behind its ears it arched its head to the side to give me better access. It seemed to relax under my touch because I heard it deep down with in its throat purr. The low vibrations I felt through my entire body.

As if time had ceased for our little moment it seemed to speed up again. Almost as if in fast forward the next events happened in a flash. Lightening streaked across the sky blinding me. The pressure that was on my chest, from where the beast had laid its head, vanished with out a sound. I sat up fast and looked around and was saddened. My beast, My Siberian Tiger was nowhere to be found. I closed my eyes…
