F/n felt a tear fall down her cheek. She cursed to herself and wiped it quickly. It was heart breaking to see how much he looked like Tanjiro, it can't be him, he died..he died.. he died.. HE DIED. Her thoughts were interrupted when two children, one with black hair and one with white spoke.
"Everyone..we thank you for coming here tonight, to the Demon Slayer Corps final selection. There are demons imprisoned here on Mt. Fujikasane. Captured alive by the Demon Slayer swordsmen, and are unable to leave. That it because wisteria, which demons hate so much blooms year round from the bottom to halfway up the mountain. However, there is no wisteria from this point on, and so demons abound. You'll need to survive here for seven days to pass the final selection. And now be on your way"
The two of them bowed and parted ways. It's now..or never.. F/n thought. She looked over at the boy once again, he had a look of determination on his face. He was the first to walk forward, F/n followed behind.
~
The forest was gloomy, it stunk of rotten flesh and rotting wood. F/n gagged at the smell. She ran around for awhile, making sure to not stop for too long. Soon enough though, she needed to take a break to rest her legs. She sat up top a rock, making sure to not let her guard down. Then she felt it, she felt violent vibrations. Vibrations no human could make. She jumped up and drew her katana, she closed her eyes and felt as the vibrations became harsher.
~
F/n always noticed she could feel vibrations, no matter how big or small. She could feel ants walking on dirt, or tiniest pebble being kicked around. She noticed peoples emotions through vibrations as well. When someone was angry, they would make consistent, and violent waves of vibrations. When someone was happy, they would make a quite normal consistency of vibrations coming in patterns of 2 light and 3 hard. When someone was sad the vibrations would be small coming in patterns of 5 light and 1 hard. This is how F/n knew what someone was feeling. She also learned to recognize the vibrations of people, she'd be able to tell who it was just by feeling a certain pattern. Nothing could get past her, she'd know something was coming even if it wasn't in eyesight yet.
~
With every footstep she felt her body shake. After a minute of studying the vibrations she pinpointed the location of her first opponent. From behind! She quickly jumped as the demon lunged in her direction. It scoffed to itself and looked back at Her. "That's one mean jump you've got there..I've got to say" the demon scowled. His voice was scratchy and harsh. The demon lunged at her again, F/n avoided it, landing on the grass.Breath of Moon: Seventh Form, Waning moon strike.
The demon watched as the girl disappeared with a flash. In the blink of an eye she was in his face, her blade piercing through his neck. The demons head fell to the ground, and so did it's body. His eyes were wide open with shock. F/n sighed and slowly put her katana back in its holster. She bowed as the demon slowly disappeared, "Rest in peace.." she said softly.
~{final selection: Day 3}
F/n had slayed about 4 demons in total, yet she hadn't seen another slayer anywhere. They must've all died.. she thought while sitting against a tree to rest. She'd almost fallen asleep when a violent vibration startled her. She sprung up and put her hand on the handle of her katana. She'd never felt anything like this before, it was by far the most violent vibration she'd ever felt. She began to look around, the vibrations were so harsh that she couldn't pinpoint its exact location, it felt like it was coming from all around her. She kept looking and looking, until she laid eyes on the most hideous thing she'd ever seen. A big, fat, green demon. It had like a million arms, it held two boys. One was obviously dead and the other had only one leg.
She quickly sprang into action, but was stopped when she saw a familiar face. It's him again.. she thought.
He looked scared, she could feel his hands trembling. Until they stopped, the monster had grabbed another boy and was about to devour him. The boy sprung into action, slicing off its huge arm. It dropped the boy it just grabbed and the boy with no leg. F/n ran over to them to see if they were okay. The first boy was fine, he was just winded. But the other boy seemed to be knocked out, she tied his leg up to stop the bleeding. She could feel the vibrations of his heart beat, getting fainter and fainter. She didn't know what to do. So she slapped him as hard as she could. The boy jolted awake and screamed with pain. So loud that the boy fighting the demon became distracted and looked over.
F/n felt her heart racing as she felt the vibrations of something about to unearth below him."BELOW YOU, WATCH OUT" F/n screamed. The boy looked down and saw hands reach up from the ground , he dodged them and cut them. F/n looked away, she couldn't watch.
It felt like forever until the vibrations finally calmed, she looked back and saw the boy against a tree. She quickly ran over to him. He was panting and had blood on his forehead. "Are you okay!?" She asked worryingly. The boy quickly opened his eyes to see F/n. He was speechless.
"Do you have a concussion? Any broken bones?" She continued to question him. All he could focus on was her eyes, where have I seen those eyes before.. he thought. She was too busy looking for bandages in her pockets.
A breeze came in and he caught a glimpse of her wrist, which was previously covered by her haori. She had a ruby red and black braided bracelet made of string. Then it hit him, "F/n?!" He said instinctively.
~
"Tanjiro-kun, what are those?" F/n asked, "they're string bracelets, my mother made them for us! Yours is the colors of my eyes, and mind is the color of yours!" Tanjiro beamed. He held up a black and white bracelet with the same style as hers. She blushed as he tied the bracelet around her wrist, and kissed the knot. "There! Now no matter how far apart we are, we'll always have something to remind us of one another" he said with a warm smile. F/n giggled and gave him a big bear hug, "I love them Tanjiro-Kun! Thank you."
~
F/n quickly looked at him, "how do you know my name..?" She asked, her tone was defensive. "Your bracelet..you're saying you don't remember me..?" Tanjiro asked, F/n felt his sadness. Tears brimmed her eyes and she gave him a hug. "I-I thought it was you, but I thought you were..dead..!" She said in between sniffles. Tanjiro pet her head, "I never died, I'm right here. I'll never leave again."
